Comodo Firewall Settings after removal of Norton [Resolved]

I have just removed Norton Internet Security Center. It was slowing my PC and they wanted money from me for the priviledge of renewing.
I have trouble making Comodo my default Firewall.
As far as I can see, Comodo has been installed ok but there appears to be something left behind by Norton that doesn’t allow me to make Comodo my default Firewall in Windows Security Center.
The message I get says that “Norton Internet Worm Protection reports that your firewall is currently turned off” but it is running ok.
I have tried running the Norton removal tool, reinstalled Comodo several times but cannot get Security Center to accept that Comodo is my default Firewall.
I am not too technical and I am at a loss where to go next. Has anyone any ideas?

Welcome to the forums, smart1gordon (:WAV)

Here’s a post with step-by-step instructions on rebuilding the Windows repository (which “Feeds” the Security Center), using a batch file supplied here in the forums. https://forums.comodo.com/help/cpf_not_showing_up_in_xp_security_center-t211.0.html;msg58857#msg58857

In this one, there’s a manual, step-by-step to rebuild it “by hand.” https://forums.comodo.com/help/windows_security_center_reports_firewall_not_working-t9992.0.html;msg72518#msg72518

This second thread will also point you to a way you can make sure the Comodo firewall is indeed running, regardless of what Windows Security Center tells you (which can be handy to know…).

Hope this helps. Ask any questions you need.

LM,

Many thanks. It worked. Brilliant! (:CLP)

Now all I have left to do is to reinstall some software that Norton kindly decided to corrupt as part of its removal process!

Great, I’m glad that helped. I’ll mark the topic as resolved and close it. If you need it reopened, just PM a Moderator (please include a link) and we’ll be glad to do so.

Keep pokin’ around the forums; there’s a wealth of info here. A good place to start, in my opinion: https://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,6167.0.html
