Comodo firewall Pro is being intialized... in system tray

First off, I want to say great work on a great firewall! (:CLP)

I’m running version 2.4.18.184. I know that you are aware of this problem and I know that everything is safe and I’m protected. What I want to know is if you are working on a fix and if so, can I provide you with any help. I’m running Avast and I know that a lot of users with this problem are too. I also am running (but don’t need) User Profile Hive Cleaner by MS and am getting logs in my event viewer/applications for cpf.exe. I’m not sure if this is related, but I did see another post that mentioned UPHcleaner. Also, this never happened when I was running the last version 2.3

I understand that Windows XP taskbar has problems, but I know that you all can fix this. I like my illusion that I’m protected when I mouseover my system tray firewall icon and it says everythings ok ;D. Good luck and let me know if I can provide any information.

cheers, innerpeace

Hello,

Thank you for your generous offer.

Comodo is working for a fix on this (as you said ;)) and it will most likely be resolved in the next version. It is unlikely for this particular issue to be caused by other 3rd party programs so there is not much you can do at the moment.

However keep checking back a beta version of Comodo 3.0 will be available in the near future and Comodo will need your help in testing it :).

Justin

Hi Justin! Good to hear a fix is on the way. I’ve seen posts on other forums mentioning this issue and was worried that may turn people away from Comodo. I do have to say that support on other forums for Comodo seems to be good though. That is a good sign for sure! It means there are many people using and are happy with this firewall. Good luck squashing that bug!

Thanks for your reply, innerpeace

Hi! I’m also running the 2.4.18.184 version, and avast! Antivirus. The same problem here - “COMODO Firewall is being initialized…” for a long minute.

Actually the problem disappeared when I first updated to 2.4.18.184, but now it has returned, even though I uninstalled and then reinstalled the Firewall - with a Windows registry clean in between.

I hope the problem will be resolved soon, because I really love everything else about COMODO Firewall! And I certainly don’t want to switch to ZoneAlarm just because it takes a while to access the internet.

Keep up the good work

Dear All,

my desktop runs Windows XP HE, Avast! 4.7 Home Ed., Comodo Firewall Pro (latest version), a2-free and everything’s ok. If I pass on Comodo icon placed in system tray it reads: “Your computer’s security level is set to ‘Custom’. All systems are up and running.”

Am I lucky or whatever?

You seem to be just as lucky as I was for a couple of days, until the problem returned!

Dear LeoniAquila,

I hope Comodo Experts will help you fix that issue.

Stay tuned,

I run Windows XP Home Service Pack 2, Avast and have the same ‘being initialised’ when I mouseover Comodo.

Odd.

Yep, the same here.
