As a rule of thumb we advice not to use two security programs of the same kind together; there is a noticeable chance they will conflict. Do not run two HIPS’s, two network firewalls, two sandboxes, etc…
Comodo Firewall without the HIPS should likely work with Avast HIPS but I have never tried that combination. May be somebody else did.
