COMODO Firewall 6

I noticed that there is a new CIS 6 beta available, but I’m not interested in the Anti-Virus features as I already have a Anti-Virus. I’m wondering if there will be a COMODO Firewall 6 released or if its all being integrated into one software package. I hope that there is a option for just the Firewall like there is now. Will this still be true for the new 6.xx versions of COMODO? If so, will the Firewall 6.xx be released when CIS 6 is officially released?

Hi shoober420,
Whether or not there will be seperate installers with different scripts to install just the Antivirus or Firewall I am not sure.

Comodo Internet Security will always have the option as it does now to install just the FW or AV or both during install via the custom install option during installation.
You can also add or remove the AV or FW components after install via start menu Comodo add/remove components (Or in the Control panel Uninstall/change).
The custom install option is in the Beta.

I knew you could do that but I was hoping there was just a seperate COMODO Firewall installer instead of customizing the security suite installer. Does this mean that there isn’t going to be a cfp.exe anymore and it will be called cis.exe? Are there any disadvantages to the firewall being bundled into the security suite? Does that mean if hacks like metasploit can disable the security suite, then they can disable my firewall?

I really hope that you make it an option to keep the way the installers are and choose whether or not you want just a stand alone firewall so we don’t have to install a whole security suite and disable all the features except firewall. That’s kind of silly.

Just so you’re aware, all of the standalone installers contain all of the modules that make up CIS. The only difference is the installer script.

So when you download the firewall installer, the installer script doesn’t show you the option to install the AV. However, if you want to install the AV, you can do so using the Add and Remove Components wizard, without the need to download the AV.

So in a nutshell, whether you select the option to only install the firewall, or the installer script is making the choice for you, the end result is the same.

What a relief, I didn’t know that. I’m excited to use CIS 6 when its officially released. I can’t wait. Thank you very much captainsticks and HeffeD.

You are welcome.
Thanks HeffeD for adding clarity.
