A big thank you to the comodo coder team - You`re doing a very nice job here. I like your Firewall / CIS very much. But recently an issue has come up for me the made me uninstall CIS for the first time in some years:
I am running on Windows 7 Home Premium 32 Bit. CIS seams to cause dpc latency spikes - on my pc exactly every 10 sec - which is critical to my harddisc recording via firewire (clicks -pops). I understand that an recent CIS update adressed just this issue and that probably things have been worse before that update - other than occasional sound distortions in media players I havent had anything to complain because I wasnt aware of the problem. But now with the need to have clean recordings I tried to sort out the matter:
DPC Latency Checker showed spikes every 10 secs up to about 4000 µs. They disappeared when disabeling the Intel Wifi 4965 AGN (Driver 13.0.0.107) which is my wlan card. Googeling brought up this issue:
Since disabeling WLAN seemed not a good option I then uninstalled CIS and reenabeld the Windows 7 Firewall (with Windows 7 Firewall Control) and whoohoo: Latency is low and smooth again even with WLAN enabled. No spikes anymore! Also dpc latency is lower now altogether.
Is there a possibility that further updates could improve on this situation? Or is there something hat could be done about that even now? I would very much like to use CIS again but for now it seems I am stuck with the rather crippled free version of Windows 7 Firewall Control…
