Hi yigido,
CCAV scans PE files and other script files.

Considering PE file not needed to explicitly have extension e.g. .exe/.dll etc, PE file is checked by file header.

This ensures even if you have some file 123456 and if malware, it is detected if it were executable.

So when you see file in scan window, doesn’t mean file is being looked up but being verified if PE or not.

I can’t imagine the scan time if I have installed more softwares on this PC. Does it effect to much on scanning speed?

More the files, longer will be scan time as each file need to be inspected for PE.

May be we could introduce some option like scan by specific file extensions only, which should dramatically reduce scan speed.

Why not

Executable files must have gold priorities instead of others.
But it will effect Valkyrie Collective Cloud because we need tho categorize all files… not only executables.
Are there any way to scan ‘all files’ with faster speed?

I can’t submit unknown files by using right click option, I get the “cannot access file” error… I have to run them to submit!

You see you can make a search like *.exe in a folder and then you can inspect listed files.

This can avoid all other files being inspected for PE and can cut down total scan time.

But again it will miss out lot of files, which may be malicious and don’t have extension.

We can think about adding a feature where you can select scanning to be done based on extension, this will avoid experience you have if you don’t want although default behavior for safety will be to inspect all files.

As you have seen in last v426, only files that execute and are unknown analyzed by Valkyrie and file extension doesn’t matter there.

• Malware detected as malicious by Valkyrie in CCAV runs in the Sandbox normally and nothing is detected.

• New UI looks great.

• Full scan already passed 30m and is at 15% with 10734 files checked, can be improved. (When finish, I edit).

Scanning appears to be CPU-intensive. (win7_x86 virtual machine, 1 CPU)
While scanning decompression bombs, it makes use of more than 95% CPU. Should be improved in my opinion.

We are working on improving performance in general and would like to come back again with specific fixes in that regard.

May you please share sha-1 of file? It is not supposed to happen.

Sure. It’s probably not related to my scenario as normal scan spikes it as well. Make sure that VM makes use of 1 CPU to get a better picture. I’ve used decompression bombs for convenience.

I can confirm CPU spikes up during scanning. Just after the boot CCAV seems to take a little more RAM and CPU than usual - after some time it’s OK.
