Comodo Cleaning Essentials 1.2.174769.31 BETA Ready!

You have got to, GOT TO, add DACS to custom scanning in CCE.

There are two primary reasons why I say this. Firstly, CCE is producing in my opinion too many false positives. Without DACS added to the CCE I have no way to verify if Comodo’s results are truly malware or not unless I go to something like Virustotal. I have just done a custom scan on a bootable flash drive I was tinkering with and got in my opinion 7 false positives. I have uploaded the log for more information.

Secondly, CCE works with LiveXP for a pre-windows environment. I have the ability to scan systems that are heavily infected in a pre-boot environment with an internet connection but I cannot utilize the power of DACS in my custom scans. I love CCE thus far and cannot wait to see it’s progression down the road.

Good to see CCE can be used in a LiveXP environment.

Could you post the false positives in the f/p board following How to report False Positives - Please read this before submitting !? That way Comodo can fix them.

A live CD is fine for one-off uses, but if you’re using such tools on a day-to-day basis you will want to make a bootable flash drive instead (many live CD vendors provide a tool to do this for you). A flash drive that has been made bootable still works as a regular flash drive, so you can drop in updated files without having to rebuilding the live OS. It can also be noticeably faster than a live CD (although for best results you will want to be booting from a USB 2.0 port–on many desktops the front ports are USB 1.1).

Most reasonably recent systems support USB booting, but by default it’s below the hard drive in the boot order so you will need to use the boot menu or edit the boot order directly. For systems that lack USB booting a “kicker” CD (e.g. Plop Boot Manager) may be able to initiate a USB boot.

Or week after maybe?? ;D

Is there any word on the next beta release. I am excited to see the new features

thanks for the great product
