Comodo Cleaning Essentials 1.2.174769.31 BETA Ready!

thanks guys… :-TU

Hi,
playing with CCE made me realise that Killswitch is missing one crucial thing: the ability to stop malware from loading into memory again. Back in days i used similar software to Killswitch: Security Task Manager - Windows 11, 10, 7 process viewer. It helped me to dissinfect a lot of PCs. Well, it’s very good but paid unfortunately. One thing it could do was to kill program and remove all registry entries responsible for starting it with the system. I dont think that would be a big problem to implement similar funcionality in to Killswitch. This is simple ‘must-have’. If you’ve spent some time on cleaning infected systems you realise as much as i do that simple killing an active proces and even deleting this particular file from the harddrive doesn’t give you much.

Despite some opinions i think that DACS is an excellent idea and whole CCE shoud be integrated into CIS ASAP. CCE should not slow down CIS noticeably since there is no need for all of these tools to be constantly present in the memory. I wouldn’t be affraid of it being ‘too advanced’ too. That’s why we have warning messages for. There is a lot of more damaging software out there (disk partition managers…) and they advertise themselves as being safe, even if they are not completly.

Why not have an auto-update coded in so that way we don’t have to re-download everytime there is a new update? :S

Because it’s portable.

you arn’t seeing the point i am trying to make. I mean when you run it have it check for an update so then we can have the newest version rather than having to check (I hope that made more sense)

I understand it is portable but that doesn’t mean it cant auto-update.

Ontopic: You could add an MSconfig to it aswell since it is usually essential in cleaning out a virus.

Agree just like other portable security tools offer this function, but I suspect this to be on the road-map for the next release after this one became stable… as it is in the very early stages of life

I am usually always having to first goto the startup, then locating the file, terminating the process, and quickly deleting the file or rebooting and deleting it. I find that to be so annoying, and if i cannot find the virus under startup then it is a pain to go through everything. Which is why the startup will be useful in this program. As for the update function it will help because i don’t think everyone will remember to get the latest beta tool. I am always testing this by finding viruses, running them on my virtual machine, and then using this to scan/find them. I make sure i can remove them by myself if needed though.

lets put it in the wishlist to make sure the devs see it pls…

all useful functionality that KillSwitch should have.

If the malware is well written and they usually are it will use other ways to get back after rebooting: it will leave some registry entries, add itself to the command line, leave a service perhaps etc. Keeping CCE at the startup just to block a malware every time system starts is simply not the right way. The whole concept of the programs like CCE is to get rid of the viruses once and for all not to block them. I am really amazed by the things CCE can do already, just look how swiftly and precisely KillSwitch identifies safe proceses. Much better than Security Task Manager does. Killswitch really doesn’t need much to be a great piece of software. IMHO if the termination function gets improved and CCE gets integrated into CIS we will simply have a KILLER package that will shake the market. I am also exited how DACS will develop and if there will be some efficient way to make it a part of the real time scanner in the future. Oh possibilities, how endless they are?..

hi
is cce safe to download and use now or should i wait for a public release.
Im curious about this and itching for a try but only if safe to do so.

many thanks.
:THNK :ilovecomodo:

It’s not recommended to run in productive enviroment;
I (myself) have no problems running it on my home machine.
Just careful what you do with killswitch  Its Mighty Powerful!

It’s in beta; not Public Release Yet;… So It’s Pretty Much Up To You…3

Jake

This is a great product and helps me a lot cuz i am the person that all my friends go to, to clean their computers. This will be even better as time goes on. I read in an earlier post that Comodo had a plan on implementing something to help reduce false positives, can you guys tell us anything about that.
keep up the great work on this very useful piece of software.
excited to see the new features in next weeks release

Care to explain more why to be very careful about the mighty powerful killswitch is going to knock my socks off ;D

Just a fair message of caution

Its in beta; There are flaws to be worked out etc.
I already use it to clean Infected Machines…

Jake

I would wait until the final release comes before I do find out how this mighty powerful killswitch works as I have no idea 8)

What do you need help with? I would be happy to explain any concepts you need clarification with.

Thanks wj32 I prefer to wait until the final release comes out before I start asking further question while Comodo trying to complete this version.

Good program, goo idea, but the scanning speed is very-very slow!

My PC: X4 CPU, 8 GB RAM.
So, a strong PC.
