Comodo Chromodo 42 is now available for download.

I am confused as to which Comodo Browser I should use?
I like both but I want to go with the one that will be updated fast/first.

But I am confused as to what the Devs are doing.

They released Chromodo 42 but not Dragon.
Now they are going to release Dragon 43 but no info about Chromodo 43.

Hi yessnooo,
I think it was initially intended that Chromodo would be first with Dragon to follow soon after.
I do understand the confusion at this moment.

Once the Developers get into a smooth routine, I would expect the release of Chromodo and Dragon to be very close to each other.

Kind regards.

Requesting developer’s to add option not to store browsing history, cookies, local storage, cache, private data, etc… in ‘normal’ browsing mode. Not to be confused with delete browsing history when closing/exiting browser. I believe this will be a useful option.

I’m asking this feature since, in Incognito mode I’m unable to access Chrome extensions / plugins.

I always get this error. Adobe plug in not up to date disable it, but I updated it, and comodo always get crashed

Hi Wezli,
Using the following site.

  1. Select your operating system.
  2. Select FP 18 for Opera and Chromium-PPAPI.
  3. Close the browser and navigate to the recently download installer and execute.

Kind regards.

“PrivDog: The Dog that not only barks at uninvited guests, but rather destroys the intruder.”

I have asked a few times with no reply is PrivDog gone? The AdSanitizer is no different then any other AdBlocker you can install :frowning:
Not to mention the loss in speed? I noticed an update to Comodo Dragon today which I stopped when I saw it also lost Privdog and got AdSanitizer :frowning:

Any idea what happened to the speed?
And is AdSanitizer the new security?

Thank you.

Hi beast-usa,
AdSanitizer has replaced PrivDog in Chromodo/Dragon, information about AdSanitizer can be found in the help documentation.
Use Ad Sanitizer to Stop Websites Tracking Your Activity-Comodo Help
PrivDog can still be downloaded as a separate program if preferred.

Regarding speed test results, these can be used as a guide (I guess) but in no way reflect real time usage.
They are irrelevant IMHO.

Kind regards.

I tried that, but every time when I restart comodo flash player set to pepper flash and not up to date message come again, I dont understand that.

Thank you very much!
Will give that a try.

i tried that too , no luck its has been a pain with this latest update for me :frowning: never had any issues with older auto updates ,

Hi and welcome Roberto 2,
Support for NPAPI is disabled by default for security reasons.

Kind regards.

:-TU thank you very much captainsticks :-TU finally got it to show up in plugins  took me while but it worked quite a walkaround though  bet more will have same issue and just give up  , i just love Comodo Dragon so happy i persisted in finding a fix for this on your forums Thank again appreciate the help on this :-TU

You are welcome Roberto 2, good to hear all is fine. :-TU
Persistence pays.
I would expect all browsers still being developed to drop NPAPI support sometime in the near future, which may give short term annoyances with long term gains.

Kind regards.

I’ve been a comodo dragon user for a few years now. Flash support seems to be an issue especially with some of these recent updates. A lot changing in this world obviously.

Getting to my issue. I can’t seem to play any secure flash content. This includes video streaming from netflix and in my case TSN (canada). I think this is the issue:

widevine is Google’s implementation of an Encrypted Media Extensions plugin. It is used to watch premium video content such as Netflix. It comes bundled with Chrome.

Dragon must not have this support with the PPAPI flash player right now. Either that or Chrome has its own native plugin for netflix that it isn’t sharing. This is quite disappointing. Does this mean I’m going to have to install chrome to watch netflix? I hope not… Let me know if anyone has a work around for this.

In previous Dragon ‘portable installations’ we could place a copy of the PepperFlash folder inside the Dragon folder and it would function without needing a command line switch. This kept the pepflashplayer.dll and manifest contained within the portable folder. With the update to 42 this method still works but only with a command line switch.

If I follow your directions:
“Using the following site.https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions 1) Select your operating system. 2) Select FP 18 for Opera and Chromium-PPAPI.3) Close the browser and navigate to the recently download installer and execute”…

It works but I end up with the pepflashplayer.dll and manifest installed at Location: C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\xxxxxx

How does that improve portability?

Hi leok,
Adding PPAPI Flash to the system was never intended to improve portability.

Adding it to the system is a much simpler method for the average user, regardless of the browser being used.

Kind regards.

NOTE: My apologies. I meant to start this in the Dragon 42 discussion area but it should be applicable to both browsers anyway so I’ll continue…

I’m not sure I agree that adding it (PPAPI) to the system is simpler especially if the browser is portable. For portable purposes adding things to the system is what we try to avoid. NPAPI is being phased out for Chromium based browsers but not everyone uses chromium based browsers. When I travel, not every computer I use will have PPAPI Flash installed on the system and they may not appreciate me installing it for them.

Beginning with version 33.1 Dragon was able to load pepper flash without the need of a command line switch and in my opinion that made Dragon all the more portable. All you had to do was place a copy of the pepper flash folder inside the Dragon folder and it would work. The only thing that could possibly make that simpler would be if pepper flash was included in the install (like Slimjet).

Dragon 42 will still load pepper flash via a ‘switch’ but it would be cleaner and easier if they had left it the way it was in 33.1 - 36.1. Is there any reason they couldn’t restore that ability to load pepper flash without needing a command line switch?

Hi leok,
Note: As you say this subject is applicable to both Dragon and Chromodo, so no apology required.

I do understand what you are saying, but I can’t see the Developers changing this back to a workaround method that was only ever intended to be temporary.
I am happy to stand corrected, if the Developers decide differently.

Most users with the NPAPI Flash plugin installed on the system, will replace it with the PPAPI Flash plugin in the future.
I would expect all browsers still being developed and with security in mind will drop NPAPI support sometime in the near future, which may give short term annoyances with long term gains.

I do realise some browsers include the PPAPI Flash plugin and I am not sure where Comodo stand on this, it may involve specific licencing requirements.
Comodo may or may not elaborate on this.

Kind regards.

In Reference to> Incognito mode I’m unable to access Chrome extensions / plugins
User: Rafale

If you go to the settings menu (Upper RH Corner 3 BOLD Horizontal Bars) for Chromodo & select submenu > EXTENSIONS (Also accessible via TOOLS)
It Should list all of the "Extensions " you currently have installed & there SHOULD be a selection box where you can check " Allow in Incognito mode "
and whatever extensions you select that box for will be visible and accessible. It works for me .
Give it a shot

Hi Murphy13,

Thanks very much. It worked for me and now I could see the extensions Incognito mode.
I don’t know how I did not see that option all these time.
