Comodo Backup Not Connecting To FTP Server

Hello.

I have used this program for quite a while now for my computer as home, and it has worked great. I have had no problem connecting to my ftp server (locally) and was able to transfer files no problem.

Now, I want to backup my work computer using this program via the FTP option. However, when I do so, Comodo backup will not connect to the FTP server. Now, seeing as how the FTP server is my machine at home, I simply connected to it via remote desktop and was able to see that Comodo backup had not even tried to initiate a connection. This is strange but makes sense because as soon as I select “login” after entering my criteria, the program (comodo backup) immediately says “cannot connect to ftp server.”

I have included the debug file.

Some notes:

I am using dyndns.org to connect, but have also tried just inputting the ftp server address itself.
I have tried typing ftp:// before the address to no avail.
I have tried not typing the ftp:// before the address to no avail.
The ftp server does work as I am using filezilla client right now to transfer files to it.
The FTP server itself is filezilla
When I connect with the filezilla client, I use passive mode. Perhaps this is the problem? Comodo backup does not support passive mode?
I am not using the standard port 21.

Hello again everyone.

After playing around with the program, I have discovered the potential problem. It has nothing to do with the FTP integration, but is a separate issue.

The program will not connect to the internet!

If I try to update the program, it tells me it cannot connect to the update servers. There are not items appearing in the hightlights section, nor does live help want to connect.

Therefore, I can conclude that the problem is not with the FTP login and details.

Some more notes:

I am writing to you right now, therefore my internet works.
I have added this program to windows firewall safe programs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled
I only have comodo antivirus running, but have disabled it and defense+ to no avail.
Windows XP.

Hi

Do you use a proxy to connect to internet?

Thanks

Hello.

No, there is no proxy here at work, just a normal connection.

Follow up:

I Installed the program on a colleague’s computer, and it connects fine. Both of us have comodo antivirus and windows firewall on. I manually added exceptions to both machines for windows firewall, hers works, mine continues to be difficult.

Additional follow up:

I removed the program, and comodo antivirus.

I subsequently downloaded comodo system cleaner. I ran it, deleted all registry errors, obselete files etc. and then re-installed comodo backup.

Interestingly, after removing, wiping registry files and reinstalling, all of my old settings were still in tact. For instance, the program had my ftp server address stored. Why was this not deleted? You would think with such a thorough cleaning all traces of the program would be gone.

Perhaps if I could completely remove the program and all traces that is was ever installed, I could then reinstall and everything would work fine.

So, on top of my original question, how do I completely remove all traces of the program, and why did comodo system cleaner not do this for me?

Regarding the ftp issue, please run ping in cmd.exe for download.comodo.com

Regarding the system cleaner issue, you can post it on the system cleaner forum https://forums.comodo.com/comodo-system-cleaner-csc-b124.0/
Did you check the “Delete settings” option in setup when uninstalling CB?

Thanks

I have just pinged download.comodo.com

I got a reply all 4 times.
