Hello,

We are happy to announce that COMODO Backup 4.0.5 RC was released!!!

What’s new:

  • CB first run wizard which starts automatically on first run. You can also start it from desktop shortcut or from CB summary page.
  • Detailed logs in %TEMP%\ComodoLogsFolder and \Windows\Temp\ComodoLogsFolder for debugging easier any issues. They should be posted with each bug report.

What’s fixed:

  • check disk running sometimes when “raw read” option was used
  • improved incremental cbu backup to Online Storage
  • progress for backup to ZIP
  • issues with installing COS with CB setup
  • delay when accessing Online Storage screen
  • every X minutes schedule issue
  • mounting files&dires backup with incremental depth >= 1
  • GUI starting very slow when COSService is stopped
  • installation which stall in some cases
  • improved speed for restoring files&folders at system start-up
  • other minor GUI issues

Known issues:

  • some issues with CBwizard. One some XP machines you might need to install redistributable pack , then reinstall CB. Redistributable packs x86 x64
  • CBU.exe may need in some cases to be terminated from task manager
  • CBU.exe may crash when switching languages
  • sometimes signing out from Online Storage may not work

Hello guys,

This new release brings a small new application, we call Comodo Backup Wizard, that presents all important data on your computer in a friendly, easy to understand way.
In recent surveys, when asked what they will save from their house in case of a fire, most people answered that after their relatives and pets they would save their picture collection.

We realize we are not only protecting bytes and files but we are protecting your vacation and family pictures and videos, your hard work and music collection, data that is important to you, and so we are improving our application to find and understand this data and make it easy for you to save it.

There are many features and improvements on our TODO list that will be coming in future releases.
Please keep in mind that this application is on it’s first release and we are working ■■■■■■■ improving it but we need your feedback to make it even better.

So please try it and let us know what you think about it.

I have just only one question: why CB installator downloads COS? CB is able to manage your online backup and there is no need to download extra software?

Is there any significance for the padlock on the CBU desktop icon and some of the backed up folders?

Here is the answer.
It means that the file has the SYSTEM user as it’s owner.
