The virus database currently is at about 100mb, but it’s supposed to be reduced in the near future.

Sunbelt vipre’s defination is bigger than comodo. its about 130mb.
I believe the question isn’t total size of the DB. He’s asking about the size of the initial update following a fresh install. Earlier I think someone said it was about 40M.
:o OMG
I shouldn’t this program because my ISP limited a badwidth limit when surf of download from foreign website.
After install the first update is well over 100MB.
Then you restart and get a smaller update.
I don’t doubt Comodo has good reasons for this, but I can’t help wondering if it couldn’t be done more (download) efficiently.
The whole installation process takes quite a while and all this time I’m wondering whether I have sound protection. It worries me.
Its going to get to 6M soon its less then 5,000 files way.

6 million signatures and still not doing that great. I really hope family signatures/daisy start working better soon. This way comodo will need 12 million signatures to offer the same protection as others do with 3 million. Imagine the signature file then, 200MB anyone.

6 million, this seems a lot. Still I wonder what Panda does than.
They claim to protect you against more than 26 million !!! :o
Regarding affecting performance, of course it does, but not as much as a sig file holding detections for over 26 million samples (which is what we're up to currently). The sig size, which has a very direct impact in memory consumption, is reduced to 10% of what it used to be.source : http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1517765&postcount=343

I’m testing out KIS 2010 right now and they only have 2,597,591 signatures yet they still detect more than comodo does. Also their signature data base is only 49MB
Congratulations on the 6 million signatures!
Hi Guys,
As we are adding generic signs on daily basis, we are in the process of cleaning up redundant signatures so signature count may go down on
So with less signatures you will have equally good protection.
Thanks

THX Umesh and the team, and DAISY ;D
Well done guys.
Database 1969 was 107MB… Now 1970 is 106MB. Signature count is going down! Clearly there is progress here. Keep it up.
I’m sure you will get to 25MB eventually.
Cheers,
Josh
Good to see the first results starting to trickle down. (:CLP) :■■■■ A couple of weeks ago you stated it would take two months to start really seeing results. Is this still as valid estimation?
Yes.
Any idea when Daisy will return Umesh?
DAISY is under going QA, depending on results it will be back. We expect within a month.
Thanks
