comodo anti-virus stopped working with upgrade to v.3

I have xp with sp2. my comodo firewall did an automatic update to the new version of the firewall. After it installed my comodo antivirus stopped working. Failed to load upon startup after firewall updated. Is this normal. Am I to assume that I do not need antivirus protection with the new version of the comodo firewall. Somthing to do with the new A-VSMART protection?

Sorry, I do not use the AV, but you will likely have to give it permissions in the Defense+ module. Click Defense+>Advanced>Computer Security Policy>(Locate and select the entry for CAV)>Edit>Select “Use a Custom Policy”>Access Rights. On the Access Rights dialog, you should check “Allow” for “Interprocess Memory Access”; “Process Terminations”; “Physical Memory”; “Protected Registry Keys”; “Protected Files/Folders” and “Disk”. You will also have to tell CAV to ignore the CFP processes. There are about 5 of them and you must add Cmdagent - the others show the shield icon. Otherwise there will be conflict when the CAV process tries to inspect the CFP processes which are protected.

You might be able to just turn the computer’s Behaviour setting to Training. That should help, assuming that the problem does not require a re-install. Training mode for both the firewall and Defense+ creates rules for your system executables that generally defines them as “Safe”. You may still have to prevent CAV from inspecting the CFP processes.
