cmdinstall.exe has stopped working

When I try to install the latest firewall or cis for that matter I get this error dialog box, “cmdinstall.exe has stopped working.” I close the error box continue to install without any further errors.

Also, Ive noticed these errors in Event Viewer. After I have installed everything works fine for a bit, but then errors and persistent application freezing of anything I try to run.

Looked around the forums and did some web searches and I can’t find anything. The, “cmdinstall.exe” error has been persistent as I have tried to run a clean install of windows multiple times. I give up. I am gonna try zonealarm and see if I have the same issues.

Use the offline installer or this one if you want just the firewall: http://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/2000/partners/cmd_fw_installer_138430009_eb.exe or if this is the one you used and still get the stopped working error try this one instead:
http://download.comodo.com/cis/download/installs/7040/standalone/cmd_fw_installer.exe

As for freezing it is a known issue when installing the anti-virus that is going to be fixed in the next release.

You can download the previous version 12.0.0.6882 to see if the issue is resolved.

The online installer for 6882 when I tested it downloads 12.1.0.6914, therefore I have included the offline installer below.

Important: You can check the hash of this file with the one provided in the following thread to make sure that it is the same file.

12.0.0.6882 Offline Installer (does not include Internet Security Essentials or Comodo Dragon).
Make sure to uncheck Antivirus in the installer so that you only install the Firewall.
