cistray.exe will not run; Advanced Settings will not persist after update

After the last Comodo I.S. update, I got a “could not be started” error. I can not manually start cistray.exe.
Changes made in the Advanced Settings pane revert upon clicking OK and reopening the settings window.

I restarted the computer. There were more CIS updates. I ran these.
Still no tray icon. cistray.exe still does not start manually.
Started cis.exe
Firewall and HIPS are off.
Turned them on and updated signatures.
Desktop widget is turned on in the Advanced Settings pane but does not display.
Turned it off in settings and clicked OK.
Went back to Settings and it was back on but still not displayed.
(Also turned off “Show Upgrade button in the main window”. This was also back on.)
Ran updater again. More updates downloaded.
Restart Computer.

Still no tray icon. cistray.exe still does not start manually.
Show Desktop widget is still checked in the Advanced Settings pane but does not display.
Changes made in the Advanced Settings pane revert upon clicking OK and reopening the settings window.

cmdagent.exe and cavwp.exe are running

Win 7
Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried doing a clean uninstall and then reinstall? If not you should take a look at this guide Comodo Forum

I’m sure that that should work but it is a little Windows 98. I may try a Sys Restore first. I’ve got a restore point from a couple of days before the Comodo update.
