Hi ![]()
a new Video: Norton DNS vs Comodo Secure DNS
Comodo Secure DNS does it work now ?
Strange this video, when i try myself Comodo Secure DNS catch a lot (in exception of âmalware zero day keygen sitesâ) ???
Thanks that sounds good enough for me :-TU
that videos (norton vs. CIS) are pointless for CIS part at least, coz CIS do not work correctly in VBox, not enough API to run all its features correctly (technical stuff)
P.S. try again in VMware ![]()
Why are you so worried about that question?
As a CEO of a business, you should be worried about market penetration, and as a direct consequence, whether your product can be deployed on a large and varied assortment of systems, both consumer and medium/large businesses.
Do you have the neccessary support infrastructure?
Do you have the neccessary centralised management system?
Do you have the business connections that will enable you to obtain large scale contracts?
Is your product useable for businesses (given that they have very different requirements to consumers)?
Is your product useable for consumers (and useable from their point of view, not yours)?
Do you have the neccessary revenue stream for advertising?
Are your planned expanison levels sustainable?
Is your forum professional when dealing with problems that end users experience?
If the answer to any of these questions is no, then unfortunately you will not be able to successfully penetrate the security market (by successfully I mean competing with the likes of Symantec and Kaspersky). Whether or not NIS has 100% detection level is irrelevant. You could have 100% protection, and you still wonât be able to compete with them if you canât solve the above questions.
NIS at the minute is more user friendly, comparable in protection, has better removal, and is one of the top sold security products. Underestimating the leading competition is very dangerous.
Now I have a strong suspicion that 5 years down the line, things will still be the same - ie Symatec will still be one of the biggest security companies with one of the most sold products, and Comodo will still be used by a minority share of enthusiasts without gaining significant market share. Now if this does not happen, I will be one of the first to happily eat my words, and heartily congratulate Comodo on their fantastic achievments, plus admit that my judgement is lousy, and appologise to everyone for doubting Comodo.
But time will tell.
Because that question lies at the heart of the âSecurityâ problem that the end users are facing!!!
Some industry facts for you:
1)AntiVirus industry has NO standards it follows
2)one of few industries thats worth $10B and has no standards!
3)Malware problem, although we spend $10B a year on, hasnât subsided.
4)industryâs marketing methods goes against end user protectionâŚconflict of interestâŚwhich then result in insecurity for end users.
I care for end userâs securityâŚI put my own money to protect them!
PS: answered your other questions in the other thread.
Melih
Agree!
Yeah, itâs big⌠But not in number of users⌠Believe, free antivirus market is almost half to half to the paid one in number of users. If not bigger.
Other free antivirus companies indeed penetrate in market share, but like Melih said, conflict interests will drop the security for final users.
Iâve read that more than 90% of Symantec employees are on sales and marketing and not on virus analysis⌠I mean, Symantec is not a âsecurity-onlyâ enterpriseâŚ
Good old guy⌠Detection rates are decreasing.
Oh, both have lower detection rates than Avira, for instanceâŚ
Paid antivirus being better than free ones is a myth.
Yes, I saw your âanswersâ in your other thread.
Unfortunately, for me, the proof is in the pudding. I donât believe claims, I believe cold, hard facts. When I see that you have become one of the biggest, and that your market share and profits are significant, then I will believe it. So far, I see only claims and speculation. Symantec however, has made it - both in terms of market share, revenue and profits. Numbers speak for themselves, claims donât.
A good example of this is the following:
If you want to make your statements credible, you need to have backed up with something, for example taken my offer in this case. If what you say is really true, you have nothing to lose - after all, youâll keep all your money, car, house etc, since Comodo will have âthe worldâs best detectionâ. Anyone can make claims on internet forums. Not many have the guts to put their money where their mouth is.
Then go ahead and take my challenge.
P.S: Sorry if I have incorrectly posted this here, Iâm not entirely sure whether this post should be classified under general discussion or this thread, as it does refer to both.
LOLâŚ
so you ask a question but you donât want the answers unless its the answers that you are looking forâŚ:), they are not claims, they are answers to your questions ![]()
Best Detection Guaranteed: As you saidâŚtime will tell
(i donât want to take your money by betting with you : ) )
Again: it is Symantec who started this by attacking Free AV! Why are you not asking them as to why they are making such foolish and unfounded statements?
And again, it is Symantec that paid $1.3B for Verisign so that they can compete with Comodo ;).
Melih
Of course I want answers! I want them in terms of facts. You gave me no facts that I could verify.
You have seriously misread my statement - I am not planning to bet with you. If I lose, and Comodo has âbest detection guaranteedâ, I donât give you anything. If you lose, and Comodo doesnât have âbest detection guaranteedâ, I get all your money. This is not a bet - this is a guarantee. I hope you realise that is how a guarantee works (before you posted!). But you wonât take this offer, I know this already - itâs too risky for you! ![]()
I honestly donât care who Symantec attacked etc etc - I was talking about your business expansion plans and your claims, trying to see if you maybe have some facts to back up your reputation!
as you said, time will tell ![]()
Melih
So you donât take my offer of testing your guarantee? ![]()
Comodo Internet Security 5 Bypassed by Malware Research Group Financial Malware Simulator - YouTube plz watch this. Comodo relies on digital certificate. What if a malware has a certificate? Also i want to ask when a malware is sandboxed, it can still establish a connection and if we allow what kind of info can malware send ? ( i hope they are not critical infos in our pc )
And also CIS has some false positives ( dont say every program has some ) but they are really silly false positives. I tried CIS and it flagged my sistem is infected ( skype.exe is trojan i didnât know ;D ) I hate those heur.suspicious and unclassified definitions, i dont trust them. Normally i scan my sistem with different softwares and they say it is clean.
Comodo is good but i felt more secure with NIS after watching the review. Thanks for giving the products for free. I hope everyone decide what is the best for theirselves.
Have a nice day.
First you have to fin a malware with a digital certificate⌠you will not find any.
The issue that you see in this test has been already fixed.
This is a little issue if the program tries to access to internet you will get a firewall message to block it.
Yes I agree they need to control the FPâs specially FPâs for common & safe programs & as u said Heur & Unclassified ones.
I would take those reviews with a some percent of suspect because this guy tested CIS in virtual box and it was not once explained during beta that CIS does not work properly in virtual box.
i hear lots of times about CIS false positives. I used 4.1, RC 2 of CIS 5.0 and now the final of CIS 5.0 and no FPs at all. And i also have Skype and ICQ and ton of games and had no problems. So may be the problem is with guys who tweak COMODO to get a better detection and as result get more FP
Just my 2 cents
You may be right. Actually guyz posting about FPâs should give details of their Heur settings Low, Med or High. Today 1 guyz posted about processexplorer FP. I checked out & yes it was an FP with the default Low Heur too.
I have noticed that Heur.Suspicious gives most of the FPâs, Unclassified also gives FPâs but not much & sometimes signatures also gives FPâs.
Thanxx

Ok right but i asked can a sandboxed malware can reach sensetive data and release them? If it can, there is no point of sandboxing it and this means there is no 100% protection. ( letâs say we clicked on yes on firewall alert by accident )
The sandbox restrics the app, but maybe the app could be able to upload information on the desktop to internet, I really dont know.
If the sandbox app try to upload something (and connect to a server), you should receive a firewall alertâŚ
