AFAIK, CIS 3.9 final is set for release tomorrow (May 12th). Unless something has changed.

Any idea what time (time zone) to expect it?

Any time after noon GMT is my best guess.

The first thing which come in my mind is that Avast gives no flase positives. With CIS I have 50 entries of possible infections listed after 3 days of usage where half of them is not even worth to check. For beginners it’s definitely a no-go. Same with Defense+. Also a no-go for beginners unless D+ is configured to give no pop-ups. While we’re at it - why it is not pre-configured and given in a “Beginner profile”? The thing is even worse given that ThreatCast does not work for half of people out there including myself.

So Avast is definitely better for beginners.

On the other hand I can’t say how much threats is being missed by Avast and I like that CIS is a complete protection for my system so I don’t need any other protection software. Also the AV performance has been brought to Avast level with 3.9 update.

Avast does give false positives. Do not be fooled!

Maybe, but I haven’t seen much of them. But my platform is not good for statistics as I have any malware very rarely. BTW, is there a faster way to submit false positives than by picking “Submit suspicious files” and browsing for them one by one? I would like to submit half of the “virus events” list for example.

To the whole CIS vs Avast discussion - I recently uninstalled Avast and switched to full CIS  But then I’m not a beginner and IMHO very few people should be seeing the Defense+ pop-ups.

You could join the malware research group by pming Melih \ or you could upload the malware to a hosting site and pm a mod or someone from the malware research group the download link.

To bad there isn’t something like D+ My Pending Files submitting - directly and automaticly.

Anyway, I switched from COMODO Personal Firewall + Avast to COMODO CIS but I wouldn’t go for this kind of switch for my family-home computer.

Avast Webserv.exe blocks Comodo icon from the taskbar at times, figured I would put this up here.

Wouldn’t this belong on the Avast forums?
