CIS Certifications, Test Results & Reviews

Those cats . . .

Retested CIS:

It is very good analysis this video and it demonstrate what and old users like me know (using CIS from version 2):
Pros:

  • The best proactive detection with his Auto-containment system
  • Secure shopping
  • It is free!

Cons:

  • The low file detection rate from the antivirus ( who care’s this in noways? More of the time I have the antivirus disabled for performance reason
)
  • It is a heavy software, no optimized at all and it slow down any computer 3-5% with the antivirus connected
But it is ok, it is a small price to pay for have the best protection

Well, the guy say that no recommend it, for the cons and the very low file detection rate, but I said again, who cares if a product have a perfect detection rate or lower detection rate

What it is important is to have you computer 100% protected against the real malware
no the detection rate that for me no means nothing

Anyway, there isn’t perfect product
And if someone knows a perfect product, please let me know

“Fortunately, we had installed Comodo advanced endpoint protection (AEP) on two PCs as part of a trial and proof of concept for the customer – and the only two machines with zero infection were running Comodo,” said Andrew.
“That is the best endorsement for a security solution in a real world, side-side comparison against a live ransomware attack. If I hadn’t seen it, I would not have believed it”

Comodo philosophy is different than most and most security experts get stuck on detection. I don’t know if they can’t wrap their mind around it or what. The current paradigm resists change.

The record number of malware in the test designed to check security

"August 2021 introduced several changes to the test of antimalware applications. Our methodology remained unchanged, so we continued to use only real threats that can be found on the Internet and email attachments on daily basis. Unlike previous editions of the test, this time we used about 80% more malware samples than usual. We also improved the initial verification of malware before the sample analysis that qualifies to the test. In this test as well as the following, we were using the Yara rules in order to better pick harmful software, and at the same time reject unclear, damaged samples. And all this without initial verification in the Sandbox (which will save time and allow to test more samples). We will describe the details shortly by completing the documentation of methodology.

During the August edition of the Advanced In The Wild Malware Test we used over 2200 samples of malware and tested the protection effectiveness of the following software:
Avast Free Antivirus
Avira Antivirus Pro
Comodo Advanced Endpoint Protection
Comodo Internet Security
Emsisoft Business Security
Microsoft Defender
Panda Dome
SecureAPlus Pro
Webroot Antivirus"

Comodo Internet Security
LEVEL 1: 23%

LEVEL 2: –

LEVEL 3: 77%

Blocked: 2218/2218
Total: 100%

I use the AV from comodo and have not had any bad experiences, that is, my computer has been reliably protected from malware. I trust comodos antivirus to render a virus harmless, which is a different way of fighting viruses than “quarantine”.

Same goes for me :-TU :-TU :-TU

Level 1 detection rate Comodo AV : 23%
Level 1 detection rate Alternative AV : 90%

Which level 1 detection rate do you prefer?
I go for 90%.

Of course 90% but better 100% - I can only report from my years of experience and every now and then I check with mbm, hitman pro, adwcleaner and none of them have ever found suspicious software. I prefer 100%. I cannot report anything else. So, why shouldn’t I trust comodo?

Hey Cisfan: what is your Alternative AV. ?

Attachment: the same results with all the other software I use to search for all the threats.

I think it’s not appropriate to advertise other AV here.
But if you want to know which AV I use, you can find it here: Recent Results In July 2024 » AVLab Cybersecurity Foundation

Comodo Antivirus Review by Jack Wherry 10 September 2021

Security

Independent antivirus test labs frequently compare antivirus programs. Comodo is not one of the most popular antivirus suites, so test results for it are few and far between. AV-Test, an independent antivirus testing organization, reported that the premium version of Comodo?s security suite performs well on real-world malware.

PC Magazine found that Comodo handled hand-modified ransomware samples poorly. This tells you that its heuristics engine isn?t quite up to snuff. Advanced or customized threats might slip through the cracks.

But why have I been protected all these many, many years? What is the reason that comodo should not be as good as other Internet Security Suites (I do not separate the antivirus program)?
This is a really serious question. I remember Melih once posted a link here describing how cis differs from other protection software in terms of protection effectiveness and approach.(translated with deepl.com)

In the latter time comodo stopes four times a trial to get an access to my computer. One of the most sensible action I do is online banking and at no time there was an attempt to catch my dates or to get access to my bank acccount. What more shall I want from a security software?

CIS provides protection for users through containment and HIPS. Containment puts unknown programs in the sandbox to avoid damage to the physical system. HIPS provides protection for critical behaviors. All of the above protections belong to LEVEL 3.
If a virus program uses social engineering to trick users into artificially classifying it as a trusted program, then the CIS containment protection and HIPS protection will be useless.
At this time, if there is a high detection rate of LEVEL 1, then the virus program will be blocked before being touched by the user.

I hope (Melih told us in his video how cis protects the pc against attacks on computer systems:
not to detect a virus when it is on the computer, but isolate it beforehand and render it harmles as far as I remember.

And so I hope, also, this way of protecion does function futhermore and comodo will not lag behind the devolopment of criminal/malicious software.
And my experience is, cis is doing an excellent job and I hope, too, there isn’t anything which contimated my pc unnoticed.
Hitman Pro does a deep scan and didn’t find anything by now.

Criminals spend a lot of energy on developing new techniqs. And as you wrote, HIPS, Firewall, the own caution and the weak comodo antivir together are a bundle of measures to protect your PC. Am I too trustful towards comodo? I don’t think so. At some point my computer would have been infected I would have received blackmail attemps, ransom software and so on, my bank account would have had to be robbed or show unexplained withdrawals. At some point! But nothing! And I use comodo since 19xx!

The statement from the article mentioned above that “PC Magazine found that Comodo handled hand-modified ransomware samples poorly” is total nonsense. In the majority of testing that I have published contained ransomware that I personally coded and/or modified thus insuring true zero-day status all of which were either contained or destroyed without any system impact.

but " a virus program " can’t even run due to blockage from containment when properly setted up and no need to any kind of sigs, if u need web protection while using Chrome etc. u will need different solutions other than Comodo (ie. phishing)

:P0l

and nowadays everyone starting to talk zero trust approach which is literally blocking everything except u %100 trust :-TU
