It seems CIS will not allow the game called “League of Legends” to launch. This started happening after LoL implemented Vanguard anti-cheat program a while ago. I read this anti-cheat sits at the kernel level, if this info helps.
I spent days troubleshooting and talking to LoL Support. I tried many steps, including installing/reinstalling the game, whitelisting in CIS all game files, etc.
The only thing that eventually allowed me to launch LoL was to completely uninstall CIS. Many players running CIS also reported a similar problem and having to uninstall Comodo in order to play.
I did have an old CIS 2022 version (been using Comodo for a very long time), So, I uninstalled that and installed the new CIS 2025 version in a last attempt to solve the issue, but that did not help either.
It also seems that a similar issue is happening with a newly launched game called “The First Descendant”, which is using 2 protections afaik. The first is called Easy Anti-Cheat. The second is NGS (Nexon Game Security) a.ka.a Blackcipher.
Is there any way to fix this please so I can play these games but still run my CIS?
Btw, both League of Lengends and The First Defendant are free games. But to play either one, you will need to make an account to see the issue.
In LoL, the launcher works fine, but CIS stops any match from launching.
in TFD, the game does not launch properly and crashes with some error.
For League of Lengends, this site downloads the installer. You can choose a different region from the drop down menu in the top right. But I think they are all the same.
For The First Defendant, the Nexon site has all the platform links. I play it via Steam though which is where I downloaded it from. You need to have a Steam account and then press “Play Now” to get added to your account, then download and install it from your library. Here are both links.
I had no idea there was a Riot Vanguard folder, but it seems it’s related to league itself reason why it worked with only adding the game folder to these exclusions. Yes not only the launcher, but I played a few games just fine, without the exclusion game will not launch and reconnect will bring the game up for a second and then close. So the issue is there if you haven’t added the game itself to the shellcode injection exclusion. Tested on an fully updated windows 10 machine with latest CIS pro version.
