If Defender is active when you enable CIS’s TDT in its Settings, upon saving the settings, CIS sends a notification that TDT “Start failed!” “PMU is in use by another application”. So no part of Windows Defender is turned off by CIS. CIS just can’t/doesn’t use TDT simultaneously & informs you of such.
you can turn off defender manually
Hello, this is my first post.
I have an i9-13900KF processor. According to the specifications, it does not support TDT (if I’m not mistaken TDT is only available on processors with a graphics chip).
Nevertheless, CIS 12.3.3.8140 allows you to “enable” this feature. And sometimes (but not always) after waking the computer from sleep mode, a message appears: “Intel TDT notification. IntelTDT has been stopped. Other process tampered PMU configuration”.
I have two suggestions:
- for processors that do not support TDT, this CIS feature should not be available,
- for processors that do not support TDT, the TDT stop message should not appear.
Hi casual_CIS_user,
Thank you for reporting.
We will check and update you.
Thanks
