Changing the size and position of the search bar

I installed Ice Dragon (ver. 22.0.0.1) on my WinXP computer and have a problem with the search bar. The search bar is huge - it’s bigger than the URL address bar (see attachment 1). When you open multiple tabs, the search bar shrinks to a small size (see attachment 2). Why can you not move the search bar to a different position (in the toolbar section, for example) and keep its size the same? See attachment 3 on how I would like the search bar presented (this is Firefox 23). I have tried several ways to move the search bar, but I am unable to move it.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Hi JoHoyt,
Right click a blank area on the tab bar and select customize.
Drag’n’Drop the search bar and place it along side the address bar, then select done.
