CFP 3.0.9.229 BETA General Feedback/Impressions (Not for Bug Reports) [CLOSED]

Yes, but only your defense+ settings are clean (!!!).

Andreas

Sorry, now i am just lost lol. Clean? You mean defence+ can’t ask again?

I think defense+ is able to ask again if you didn´t created a rule.

Andreas

Hey All,

I installed CAV 2.0 Beta too. I think CFP 3.0 Beta and CAV 2.0 are compatible.

:BNC :BNC :BNC

But i hope Comodo will solve the “remember my answer” Problem. That is very important for me.

(:WAV) (:WAV) (:WAV)

I repeat: “remember my answer” is very important for me !!!

Thanks

Andreas

But the popup has to be driven by some setting somewhere… Checking a box in the popup would only apply to that popup, not a future popup. That’s what the current “Remember by answer” box is about, and does what it sounds like you refer to, as far as making a rule or keeping it for the session only.

If you want to have a “Remember” box checked only for your session, I think that would need to be a different setting somewhere in the configuration of the firewall, to control popup characteristics.

LM

Now “Remember my answer” is setting as standard. CFP 2.4 hasn´t “Remember my answer” setting as standard.

Now i must click twice for my work.

Only i want to configure if “Remember my answer” is setting as standard or not (“similar” CFP 2.4).

The first picture is standard.

I want the second picture as standard.

Hi LM you can select all by clicking on “Select” in the row, it either adds all to checked or uncheked, hope it helps.

It is not quite visible but you can click on the the column header to select all. The header of the column where you see the checkboxes.

Very Nice Commodo, Very Nice.

Vista Ultimate, Bitdefender v10 Plus, Windows Defender, FD-ISR.

No issues what so ever. Great Job!

Yep.I have the same suggestion.

I do not think the default setting “Remember my answer” was selected when I try to use IE is good,I would like to select “Remember my answer” by myself,or I have to unselect it each time. :BNC

Yes yes yes!!

I need this too!! :■■■■ (:CLP)

Hi Guys

Well BETA 3 finally came out and I have to say my experiences with this firewall have been less than stellar. I understand this is beta, but this program feels like it needs to be snapped back to alpha stage.

I am running Windows XP x64 on Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 with 2 gig of RAM. Im also using Avast! antivirus. This computer is connected to my router wirelessly.

First off, I cant believe how much this firewall has slowed down my internet access. Web pages load up slower. Also benchmarked download speeds. With Comodo off ,speeds are 800kbps, and with it on, downloads slowed to 140kbps. I alternated switching the firewall on and off several times and downloading each time, within a matter of minutes apart, and could not believe the difference.

Next I started up x-fire. Comodo came up with several messages stating that x-fire wanted access to internet, my memory, CTFMON.exe and a host of other ■■■■ I didnt understand. At this point I couldnt do anything because Comodo had frozen my system. I wanted to take a screen capture at that time to post here but couldnt because my system was so incapacitated I had to reset.

What I also found extremely ludicrous is that when I pressed my “Start” button I got a popup saying that Explorer.exe wants to access shell32.dll. Look, I understand that Comodo is in learning mode but these access messages are just over the top, and unecessary. I unticked “Windows/Winevent Hooks” and “Interprocess Memory Access” notifications so I wouldnt get these annoying messages but your average layman is not going to understand what these messages are for and how to minimise them.

Whatever happened to the simple Application Behavioural Analysis selection of version 2.4.

Also too where is the simple Applications Permission list where you can see, easily and simply, what applications are allowed and whats blocked, and where you can easily edit them as needed (also in 2.4)? The closest thing I could find was the “Computer Policy” menu which has one of the messiest interfaces known to man. What I would also like to see is the ability to be able to give each application network access to LAN only and not to Internet such as computer to computer file and printer sharing over LAN. These features are used effectively in Kerio/Sunbelt firewall.

I have had several friends and relatives try out this new firewall and been amused to watch their complete bafflement, as they try to understand its interface. If software firewalls are to be an essential staple for secure internet access, in this day and age, then they need to cater for the layman. Take a look at Ashampoo firewall to see how they do this effectively. At the moment, unfortunately, Comodo V3 seems to cater to the rocket scientist.

Training Mode is defferent from before , I think the last one is better .
I set a rule as “C:*” in “My Protected Files” ,and set the level to Training Mode , when a program wants to modify a file in C: , CFP adds “C:*” in “Process Access Rights→Allowed Files\Folders” , not just the file , maybe CFP gives the program too much authority .
“Learn All” in Beta2 is defferent , if a program just wants to modify a file , CFP will just adds a file in “Process Access Rights→Allowed Files\Folders” , I think this is better .

If there are many programs , it is diffcult to find one of them , could you think some ideas ?

my favourite mode is the Clean PC mode… you set to this mode and you don’t get many pop ups at all!

Melih

Maybe adding “search” at the below of “purge” is a good idea ;D

If a program wants to modify files , CFP still gives many alerts . “Learn All” level is useful , but “Training Mode” is not very good , I think :THNK

CFP should give three different alerts ( create \ modify \ delete )for file/registry protection , if a program wants to create or delete a file , CFP still tells me “modify” , many times I think it means “change” .

Good work. Everything is much better than last time. But it would be nicer if comodo allow user to view and customize the auto generated rule when choosing to allow and remember the answer. The auto generated rule sometimes is too loose. It would be convenient to modify the rule immediately instead of going to rule panel. Also using firewall is about controlling privacy. So it will be good to have a content control component like the privacy and identity protection provide by Zone alarm, or the ad and site filtering provided by Outpost. Overall, your guys have done a pretty good job. Thanks. :BNC
