can't monitor 3rd party AV and Firewall

winXP sp3 and Comodo CIS 5.3.176757.1236, with the firewall and the av

When I look in the windows event viewer, I keep seeing this error message everytime I restart windows:

 Event IE: 1802

The Windows Security Center Service was unable to establish event queries
with WMI to monitor third party AntiVirus and Firewall.

When I look in the windows Services, I have windows firewall/internet Connection Sharing (ICS), and windows management instructionation are both on Auto.

When I look in the Control Panel, under Windows Firewall, its turned off.

Further, under Security Center, it says for Firewall, its Not Monitored, and under recommendations it says “I have a firewall solution that I’ll monitor myself” is checked.

Then for the AV: Its Not Monitored, and recommendations it says “I have a firewall solution that I’ll monitor myself” is checked.

So, how do I turn this error message off?

Try the Security Center reset. Does that do the trick for you?

Open a command prompt by clicking Start → Run. Type cmd and click OK.

In the command prompt window, type NET STOP WINMGMT /Y and press ENTER.

Type REN %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\WBEM\REPOSITORY REP.OLD and press ENTER.

Type EXIT and press ENTER to close the window.

Restart the system. Windows should start normally, but you may be prompted to restart the system once more to complete the changes caused by resetting the core repository. You may also need to restart once more if Windows Security Center still does not detect your security product.

Thanks EricJH, but unfortunately no, the Security Center reset did not work. I’m still getting the errors.

I’ve solved this mystery. Apparently, there wasn’t a C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem within the windows path. As soon as I added it, then my problem wen’t away.
