I am stumped as of right now, maybe someone can give me a hint. For some reason I cannot access www.virustotal.com I don’t know when it became a problem but when I try to do it, it will not access the webpage, I get this “Sorry, we can’t find “www.virustotal.com”. We suggest that you check the spelling of the web address or search above.”

But I can ping the webpage through the CMD window.

I tired to access it though Firefox, Chrome and IE and I get the same results.

I checked the Hosts file and nothing was there. I checked the registry and nothing came up. I also turned off CIS and it was still not working.

It is not my router or modem because I have another computer hooked up to the router and I can access the page just fine.

Anyone have any other ideas?

i don’t have any problems accecing that page through chrome. if you need checking a file a simler page is

Jotti's malware scan try that one if virustotal is not working for you.

could you have been hit by a malware perhaps`?

download malwarebytes antimalware and run a scan and see what it finds, and don’t forget to update before scanning.

yes I do but it is turned off and not running right now and even when it is running I have allow HTTP.

I can get to virscan and jotti just fine.

I did install some new software but I have removed it. It has to be something on this computer and nothing from the network because like I said I can get to it from my other computer just fine.

I did a tracert for google.com and it goes like this:

fixed it, there is something wrong with the Comcast DNS servers at least near me. When I switched them to the Norton DNS servers I get instant access.

I turned off domain helper service, but still no dice. I think there is something wrong with their servers.

I know weird. I am on the open dns servers becasue I don’t want anything blocking malware seeing as I do malware research.

could you put it back to comcast server and try changing the mac address by 1 number
use this to do it

It’ll be like
xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx <—change one of the numbers on the 5th or 6th section over

If it doesn’t make a difference, just change it back
