Can you or should you use snort with CIS? Does it offer anything that CIS does not?

There is no interoperability between the 2 programs, and IMHO 2 IPS on the same system is not a good idea, there may or may not be conflicts. Also again IMHO Snort is more of a (Network)NIPS or NDS depending on how it is set up and CIS is a (Host)HIPS. If you try let us know how it works out.

After having a quick look on snort’s forum it looks hard to use.
