Can I upgrade from firewall 3.14 to cis 4.0

My OS is vista home premium sp2.

I have been receiving the notice to upgrade for some time now but have been dreading it.

From everything I have read so far it would appear that I cannot upgrade? Can someone verify my assumption?

If I need to uninstall 3.14 I don’t want to be without firewall protection while I get everything cleaned up and 4.0.x installed and am planning on using the windows firewall.

This is my plan of attack if I need to uninstall.

  1. download 4.0.x
  2. stop firewall 3.14
  3. start windows firewall
  4. uninstall 3.14 using revo uninstaller in moderate mode
  5. install 4.0.x

Now that sounds pretty simple doesn’t it

Has anyone on here experienced the upgrade without problems? It might not be the sub forum to ask that question since most users would not be here unless they were experiencing problems.

You can upgrade, but not using comodos updater program, if you do upgrade you would do what you have said:

1. download 4.0.x
2. stop firewall 3.14
3. start windows firewall
4. uninstall 3.14 using revo uninstaller in moderate mode
5. install 4.0.x

I have upgraded cis on my xp 32-bit machine and while I had no problems except for one error about defense+ is not working properly but after a reboot I have yet to see that error again, I am still putting off updating cis on my windows 7 64-bit.

Currently manually upgrading is the only option. There are plans for a future upgrade through the automatic updater. No estimate of how long this may be though.

I’ve upgraded more than a dozen systems using that exact method and have had no problems.

Mileage may vary, every system is different. That said, I would not anticipate any issues to go that route.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I will wait until they come out with 4.1.x.
