Can anyone explain this?

First, I have CIS 3.5.57173, and it was running when all this happened.

I have what I can only describe as a bug that I am pretty sure is being spread by a portable hard drive. What is happening is when I open “My Computer” and want to display what is on any drive by double clicking there is no response. I do get a error box that reads:

RECYCLER\S-1-6-26-100031256-100020473-100024671-3905.COM
“Windows cannot find ‘RECYCLER\S-1-6-26-100031256-100020473-100024671-3905.COM’. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.”

I did this and ‘Search’ said there is no file named RECYCLER. I did reformat my harddrive and everything was OK till I used the harddrive (that is when I decided where the problem was coming from) and my problems happened again. Also when this problem first happened I could not reach ‘Windows Update’, I was just redirected to Google, so far, it hasn’t happened again. Also, I have been able to open all my drives by using ‘explore’ rather than ‘open’.
If anyone has any info on this please let me know.
