BSODs: Please add your minidump files here(v3)

I’m happy to report that I haven’t had a single BSOD for a month now while using CIS v3.5.57173.439!!! I thought I’d give it a try for a month since my last post here. I’ve burned numerous CDs/DVDs and my system has been running fine. I hope that in future versions, this problem stays fixed.

Comodo, please continue addressing these BSODs for those who are still having trouble! (V)

  1. Windows XP SP3 32 bit
  2. Comodo Firewall 3.5.57173.439, ESet NOD32 3.0.621.0
  3. iTunes 8, Winamp 5.541
  4. Launching iTunes reliably causes BSOD. Launching Winamp often causes BSOD. Cold booting computer with iPhone 3G attached to USB port causes BSOD during boot process. Crash dumps point to cmdguard.sys as the culprit.

debuglog1.txt: computer up and running OK, then launch iTunes, get BSOD

debuglog2.txt: caused by cold booting computer with iPhone 3G attached to USB port

bug occured when i opened google chrome and tried to set a rule.

  1. Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 (32bit)
  2. Only Comodo Internet Security latest version (I do have Spybot Search and Destroy latest version but I open it when I need it)
  3. Crash Dump attached I think this might be due to me clicking the Standby button on my keyboard. It’s a Logitech Wave Keyboard and Mouse Combo (The standby is disabled in Windows and enabled only Logitechs program)
  4. I use Standby a lot and happened twice I can remember and cmdguard.sys is causing it.

BSOD happened during My Computer scan. I had a one or twice BSOD with CIS 3.8.64263.468, also during My Computer scan, but this is the first time with new version.

  2. Eset NOD32 3.0.648, Webroot SpySweeper 6, CIS 3.8.64739.471 (installed without antivirus; Firewall status: Custom mode, Defence+ status: Clean PC mode), Malwarebyte’s Antimalware 1.34 (free)

  3. N/A

4., 5. I updated from version 3.5.57173.439 to version 3.8.64739.471 (fresh install). Everything went ok, minimal amoun of pop-ups, but as soon as I connected my pc to the internet, blue screen appeared. I thought, it was caused by wrong install, because the finish button to restart my pc did not apper. So I tried one more time.

This time te installation went well (I waited longer  ), the same configuration. My computer lasted longer. I was not connected to the internet and after cca half an hour blue screen appered one more time.

After Egemen’s and Ronny’s appel I post my minidump reports. Shoul I also post my full memory dump report (cca 260 mb, in rar archive 46 mb)? I am really curious, what caused this problem.

Thank you very much.

I’ve uninstalled 3.8 and wasn’t writing out a minidump, so I can’t post one. However: I’m also using Spysweeper and NOD32 (CIS firewall only). cmdguard.sys triggered the BSOD. Also recv’d BSOD when uninstalling like user above – had to do from safe mode. If memory serves correctly, the uninstall BSOD was triggered in inspect.sys.

BSOD happened during My Computer scan.
I had a same problem with CIS 3.8.64263.468, .471 and now 477.
Doesn’t happen always. Sometimes scanning goes without a problem.

Windows Version/Bit and Service Packs
Windows XP 32bit SP3

Your realtime Antivirus/version,Spyware remover/Version, other Security Software/Version
Comodo Internet Security 3.8.65951.477

Brief description of the problem (Attach Diagnostic report or crash dumps)
This is what was written on BSOD:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process System process terminated unexpectedly with a status of
0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down.

Despite following your steps VERY CAREFULLY I cannot get my system to produce a memory dump or a mini dump.

Steps to reproduce the bug (if applicable)
My system has a dual boot setup: Vista 64 and XP 32
To reproduce this problem I boot into XP then restart and log into Vista then log back into XP and I get the above blue screen. On occasion I will very quickly see a Comodo error box come up before my system blue screens.

Sometimes on a second startup into XP, staright after the first one, I will sometimes get a second BSOD with the following message:
STOP: d0000144 Unknown Hard Error
Unknown Hard Error

And then on third time booting into XP I will get: “winlogon.exe encountered an error and needed to close.”
"Eventtype: BEX P1:winlogon.exe P2:0.0.0.0 P3:00000000 P4:Unknown P5:0.0.0.0 P6:00000000 P7:00000000 P8:00000005 P9:000000008

My System
Gigabyte P35C DS3R Motherboard (Intel Driver Version 9.0.0.1008)
Intel Core 2 Duo 6400
Leadtek Geforce 8800GTS 512 (Driver Version 182.06)
2 Gig RAM
Running no other security or spyware software.

I can confirm that these BSOD’s only happen when Comodo CIS is installed and that this problem goes back to the Firewall 3.0 days.

UPDATE: I got another BSOD. This time it reads:
STOP: c00000145 {Application Error}
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)
Click on OK to terminate the application.

I managed to find a crash dump in my Dr.Watson folder. Hopefully this helps.

Yet another update:
If I install CIS 3.8.65951.477 without the Antivirus and just install Firewall and Defense+ then I don’t get any of the above problems. Looks like your AV is the problem. I think I’ll be sticking with Avast!.

Hey i just installed Comodo internet security few days ago (without AV component) soon as i finished with installation my PC started with crashes.
It looks like i get problem mostly when some of programs i got installed on PC try to connect (eg. All kind of updaters including Comodo updater! , also from programs used for files downloading).
I tryed with turning off Comodo proactive defense, turning off whole Comodo and generaly turning off every monitoring sofrware i got on PC, but problem was still there, later i unistalled Comodo just to be sure its Comodo, and yes no new restarts happend while Comodo was unistalled.
I installed Comodo back, and crushes were back soon as i try to connect those programs on net.
By the way im not getting " blue screen of death" just instant reboot.

Ok im using Windows XP SP2 (32bit i believe.)
Kaspersky 2009 antivirus on real time scan with proactive defense ON.
SpyBot realtime protection,Latest version.
Netlimiter with turned off protection (using it just to limit internet use)
Before Comodo i was using ZoneAlarm Pro,before i installed Comodo i Unistalled Zone alarm.
So now im on Latest version of Comodo internet security with AV component disabled.

–Edit
Ok now, this time after i changed settings for mini dump, i got Blue screen of death and this is what it said “NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS” I followed every step from You may receive a "STOP 0x00000035 NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS" error message when you try to log on to a domain - Microsoft Support to fix problem with hotfix and registry value edit,it sounded like solution, but somewhy it didnt fix my problem.
Also i tryed with installing SP3 as thats other way to solve my problem ( thats what microsoft tells me at least) and restarts are there even with Sp3
And here is last mini dump i saved

Im rly sry if i did something wrong with posting my problem, im hoping to get some support so i know what should i do as i would rly like to keep going with Comodo.
Ty very much

–Edit
Only solution that i came out with is Removing of KAV and keeping Comodo,my PC is working just fine now.
