Comodo Internet Security 3.8.65951.477
Brief description of the problem (Attach Diagnostic report or crash dumps)
This is what was written on BSOD:
STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process System process terminated unexpectedly with a status of
0xc0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000)
The system has been shut down.
Despite following your steps VERY CAREFULLY I cannot get my system to produce a memory dump or a mini dump.
Steps to reproduce the bug (if applicable)
My system has a dual boot setup: Vista 64 and XP 32
To reproduce this problem I boot into XP then restart and log into Vista then log back into XP and I get the above blue screen. On occasion I will very quickly see a Comodo error box come up before my system blue screens.
Sometimes on a second startup into XP, staright after the first one, I will sometimes get a second BSOD with the following message:
STOP: d0000144 Unknown Hard Error
Unknown Hard Error
And then on third time booting into XP I will get: “winlogon.exe encountered an error and needed to close.”
"Eventtype: BEX P1:winlogon.exe P2:0.0.0.0 P3:00000000 P4:Unknown P5:0.0.0.0 P6:00000000 P7:00000000 P8:00000005 P9:000000008
My System
Gigabyte P35C DS3R Motherboard (Intel Driver Version 9.0.0.1008)
Intel Core 2 Duo 6400
Leadtek Geforce 8800GTS 512 (Driver Version 182.06)
2 Gig RAM
Running no other security or spyware software.
I can confirm that these BSOD’s only happen when Comodo CIS is installed and that this problem goes back to the Firewall 3.0 days.
UPDATE: I got another BSOD. This time it reads:
STOP: c00000145 {Application Error}
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142)
Click on OK to terminate the application.
I managed to find a crash dump in my Dr.Watson folder. Hopefully this helps.
Yet another update:
If I install CIS 3.8.65951.477 without the Antivirus and just install Firewall and Defense+ then I don’t get any of the above problems. Looks like your AV is the problem. I think I’ll be sticking with Avast!.
