AV update problem. Help needed :)

Hi,

I’ve got problem with updating an Comodo Antivirus.

Version of my CIS is 3.10.102363.531
XP Pro SP3
Dell Latitude (can’t find info about model)
Intel Pentium III.

When I’m trying to update an AV, Updater freezes @ 5% and I’m getting message which tells me to check my Internet connection, but it goes perfectly.

Please, help me as fast as it possible.

Greetings,
bugg0212

PS. If my english is bad, please, forgive me. I’m from Poland, our education system isn’t the best :stuck_out_tongue:

Do you have any other security programs installed?

no.

Are you using any proxy for CIS?

Miscelaneous > Settings > Connection

No.

Is http://download.comodo.com the adress of update host?

NOTE: while I’m trying to update CIS i’m getting popup window with message about error 108.

This is correct.

Error 108 means your not able to connect to the servers.
So we are going to see if you can ping the servers.

Start > Run > type cmd > then type “ping http://download.comodo.com” without the quotes in cmd > then hit enter

Can you take a screenshot and then upload it to the forums please. thx

I’ve got polish version of my OS, but I’ll try to translate the report.

so, how does it look?

will I ever get answer for my question? ???

Hi Bugg,

I’ll think we have to do a Network Packet Capture to see what’s going on under the hood…
Can you download SmartSniff here:

Close all other software that creates internet traffic, start the application Press F9 and select your adapter.
Then start the capture, open CIS and try a “check for av updates” after the error shows up stop the capture and, then we can see what happened.

Right i have seen that before did you save the capture ?
Can you send it to me by email ?

Have you by any chance installed in a “non-default” folder ?

no, it’s in standard location.

am I able to save this report? or i’ve got to do printscreens? :stuck_out_tongue:

Use, File, Save Packets Data to File, I’ll PM you my email okay ?

Me too.
The virus update progress stop at 30% too.
[My English is not good. I am 12 and I am a Chinese.]

Hi wushangwei welcome to the forum.

The AV update goes very fast to 30% then it looks like it stops, it doesn’t. The first AV update after installing CIS is ~100mb and it takes a little time.

Please have a look here:

https://forums.comodo.com/anti_virus_faq/database_updates_freeze_at_30_what_is_going_on-t43099.0.html

Thank you very much! I think CIS is very good. And it’s free! :-TU
