Anti-malware recomendations

Hi i’m new here and i have a few concerns. I’m always adjusting my security software as I’m not sure whats good and whats not. I’m currently using Avast! anti-virus home edition, superantispyware, malwarebyte’s anti-malware, spywareblaster and spywareguard. I’m currently adding Comodo firewall, and I would like any recomendations on what to use. Also is Comodo anti-virus and boclean decent or worth using? I’m also runing winodws vista 32 bit with windows defender on.

You are more then enough protected. I do hope your only using SAS and MBAM for on demand scanning. You can turn Windows Defender off since its pretty much worthless. The only thing you could add is Sandbox your browser. You may also want to consider dumping Avast for Avira. Avira’s detection is always the best. BOclean is discontinued and You CANNOT run 2 anti viruses at once. So either keep Avast. Install Avira or install CIS completely after uninstalling Avast.

Alright I’ll take a look into that thanks! ;D

I couldn't agree more :■■■■

I was wondering can you install both Avira AntiVir and CIS +AV and just use one of them as an on demand scanner or will it still cause them to conflict?

which one causes the conflict, the installation or the fact that both are simultaniously activated?

You cannot run 2 anti viruses period. Using an av on demand is not necessary. Install Avira Free then install CIS without the av. Scan once a week with SAS and MBAM on demand and you will be all set.

you may uninstall spywareguard too, it doesn’t get updated anymore

I’m not sure, Does it will not conflict with other security software ?

I have Avira Premium, prevx, and sometimes comodo av running in real-time. It works for me, but for someone else your taking a risk on possible problems. All it takes is one conflict to cause problems. If your going to do it, I hope you have alot of time on your hands :)

Better stick with one AV then.

I have used Norton and AVG side by side for years. It may be possible to run two AV’s together but not necessarily a match made in heaven. It is something to try with caution and restraint.

Noooo don’t even say that :o

Actually you can run 2 antivirus at same time i m using CIS (including CAV at stateful state) & rising antivirus 2009 my system working very smoothly fast also, i got 1gb ram, 845 motherboard, 80 gb hdd,
:a0
You also try and see… it works

ANYONE trying to or currently running 2 anti viruses is just asking for trouble. Its called over lapping security and can actually make you more prone to infections when 2 av’s try to fight over who is going to cure the infection.

Vette is 110% correct, Your asking for trouble having 2 at the same time.

I would say the same but that not whats happening with CIS + rising antivirus 2009, so there are exceptions to law also, but yes normally speaking it can have the impact as u r stating

Well I will not argue with you but both of your current av choices cannot nor will ever add up to Avira’s detection. Nor will it ever add up to the likes of G-Data. Why don’t you just use a better av then 2 generic av’s.

I think it is ok to have more than 2 AV’s, but all except one are on-demand with real-time scanning off.

I personally don’t have any AV with real-time scanning on. Just CIS (with AV off, but still installed) and GeSWall (not Sandboxie :stuck_out_tongue:).

Good set up but running 2 real time av’s is a no no. One on demand and one real time like you said is fine.

Not true in the case where I used AVG and Norton they sometimes jumped both to the the same virus occasion

Excuse me G-Data uses two engines, Avast and Kaspersky, so according to your logic that should not work yet you are recommending it. That is inconsistent and makes me wonder you recommend it…(:NRD)

Let me state it again. It may be possible to run two AV’s together but not necessarily a match made in heaven. It is something to try with caution and restraint.
