1. What actually happened or you saw:
The problem in the new version is not knowing if the application is unknown and will be run restricted or not. With the new rules it is now possible for an app to be unknown, but to still be run unrestricted. However, there is no easy way (without digging through the advanced settings) for the user to know how a particular unknown app will be run before running it. 2. What you wanted to happen or see:
It would be nice of the apps could be tagged with a visual marking showing whether the app will be run restricted or not. That way, if a user sees the mark on the icon of the application they know, before running the application, whether it will be run in the sandbox or not. 3. Why you think it is desirable:
As previously mentioned, the new rules for this version of CIS make figuring this out much more complicated. Visually marking them in this way would greatly simplify user’s understanding of how particular files will be handled. 4. Any other information:
In the new version unknown files are divided into two categories:
1: Unknown files which are not restricted
2: Unknown files which are restricted
My suggestion is that the first type could have something like this added to the application icon:
I can see why you put this in the Beta Wish Request section. With the new rules for determining whether files will be restricted or not this may be confusing for many users. Thus, I agree with this Wish being processed in this board.
Perhaps what would be best would be if files were tagged as either Trusted, Unknown and will be restricted, Unknown and will be Restricted, and as Not Yet Checked by Comodo.
I’m not sure how these would be handled pictorially, but it seems to me that if apps would be visually tagged that all scenarios for the files need to be handled. What do you think of my idea?
I rendered this wish, because there are files that are unknown are not restricted, such as: unknown files on the desktop, so this does not fall in the user puzzled image is placed first, and means that the file is unknown and will not be restricted
The second picture it means that the file is unknown, and will be restricted
Stays a recent type Trusted files I think it will stay clear it trusted because they do not carry any sign
this wish exists in multiple applications such as: Defenswall,Geswall
Thank you for submitting this Wish Request. This is in the tracker for consideration by the devs. However, do note that even though this wish will be considered by the devs, it does not necessarily mean that it will be implemented. I will update this topic when I have any additional information.
4. Any other information:
In the new version is unknown files are divided into two parts:
1: Unknown files which are not restricted
2: Unknown files which are restricted
My suggestion is that the first type could have something like this added to the application icon:
What’s the point (purpose) of “unrecognized files” list now? Now that with the new rules, half of it (or more) acts same way as “Trusted files” list (Run without restriction).
