Ability To Allow Specified Programs To Access Folders Added To Block Files [W21]

1. What actually happened or you saw:
When i add a folder to the Block Files it block ALL programs from being able to access that folder, which is good for many situations.

2. What you wanted to happen or see:
I would like to see the ability added to allow some exceptions so that some programs can access the folder.

3. Why you think it is desirable:
This would allow users to block all applications except excluded ones from READING/WRITING files in a specified folder. This may be helpful, for example, if you wanted Word to be able to access important word documents, but not to take chances for any malware being able to access them.

4. Any other information:

Thank you for submitting this Wish Request.

I believe that the best way to go about this would be to create a Wish for more granular control for programs placed in the Protected files/folders. These could then have options to select which programs are able to access it. Would you agree?

Thank you.

I strongly disagree, Protected Files/Folder and Blocked Files/Folders are two different things,

Protected Files/Folders - Blocks applications from being able to MODIFY the files but DOESN’T block applications from being able to READ.
Blocked Files/Folders - Blocks applications from being able to MODIFY and READ the files.

Now if you meant more granular control for Protected Objects, then I’d agree.

Whichever way they carry it out doesn’t matter to me, as long as one can block ALL applications except EXCLUDED ONES from READING/WRITING files in a specified folder.

Sorry about the capital words… Quite tired and lazy today so couldn’t bother with bold…

Sorry, I had misunderstood how this works. I have now edited the first post, and edited the title as well. Please let me know if everything now seems correct.

Yes, everything is correct.

Litvyak thanks again.

Chiron, I was busy and i forgot to check if anyone reply.

No problem. Thanks for letting me know it is okay. I just added a poll. Please let me know if everything still looks correct.

PM reminder sent.

I would rather not forward a Wish Request to the Waiting Area unless I am sure that it correctly represents what vefo wanted. Thus, I will move this Wish Request to the Rejected section.

However, vefo, as soon as you reply and let me know that everything is correct I can move this to the Waiting Area. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Thank you for submitting this Wish Request. I have now moved this to the WAITING AREA.

Please be sure to vote for your own wish, and for any other wishes you also support. It is also worthwhile to vote against wishes you think would be a waste of resources, as implementing those may slow down the wishes you would really like to see added.

Thanks again.

I’m sorry, but as it has been 6 months since the Wish Request has been submitted, and it has not received the required 15 points, I am forced to move this Wish Request to Rejected. I hope you understand.

Please note that if you wish you are allowed to create a new Wish Request for this same wish as long as you wait at least 1 month since the time it was moved to Rejected. This only applies to Wish Requests which were moved to Rejected because they sat in the Waiting Area for 6 months without receiving the necessary 15 points, and were moved to Rejected only for that reason.

Thank you.
