Yahoo option while installing CIS

I’m new to CIS and really loving it so far. The only thing I found a little strange was the fact that Yahoo appears twice (during installation and after rebooting).

I don’t mind it the first time it appears, as that kind of thing is common in many programs:

But on the second screen, it raised a red flag with me on trust, only because Yahoo has zero to do with security or updating anything in CIS. The popup clearly misleads the user (most non-savvy users don’t bother reading these things from my experience and just click next, next…).

And this is how it appears the second time (image from a quick internet search, it says v10 at the top, so this has been there for 2 major versions at least, as I have v12 installed)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m already really loving CIS and will recommend it to everyone. But it’s something I just wanted to highlight. Thanks

I am assuming Comodo is using this to directly make some money from it.

Lots of free applications have an option to use Yahoo as your browser’s default search etc. This is nothing unusual.

At the end of the day the product is given to us for free. I don’t think we can really ask for Comodo to not include some sort of advert that they are able to make money from.

If you have took the decision to change your browser’s search to a privacy orientated one, then surely you will know to not click the box in the first place.
