There’s no need to worry, this app is an open source one used to modify security settings.Being open source you can be assured it’s ok,provided it’s downloaded from the authors:
This type of util often causes false positives with AV scanners due to their modification of system settings which to the heuristics is similar to what malware does. (:WIN)
Details of the Xspy are shown below. This pest can be detected and cleaned using PestBlock AntiSpyware.
Name: Xspy
Type: Key Logger
Description: A program that runs in the background, recording all the keystrokes. Once keystrokes are logged, they are hidden in the machine for later retrieval, or shipped raw to the attacker.
It would be of concern but the source code for that utility is freely available so any embedded nasties would be quickly picked up.The project originated on sourceforge which has impeccable credentials. (:WIN)
Ehehe I hope that also the other “beasts” are far from here!

Ok, thanks for the explanation on this utility.
Is always well to verify that there is not ugly surprised behind a free program. ;)
hello, i’m the author of xpy. through google i came across this posting and wanted to clear up this matter. first i want to assure you, that xpy is no malware. the reason for some antivirus software reporting it to be malware lies in the compiler used, called nsis. nsis is a scripting language to create installers, but its capability lets people write small programs. the downside of nsis’ popularity is the fact, that it’s also used by criminal-minded people to install malware.
the nsis makers are well aware of this and constantly work communicate with various antivirus manufacturers to improve the situations. i will post a couple of links, so you can read yourself into the matter.
