After installing Comodo FW 126.96.36.1990 on XPSP2 and logging on as admin, I get “Access denied” whenever I use network utiliesi in DOS box, eg. netstat, ipconfig, ping. Uninstalling Comodo and rebooting solves the problem.
Have you defined a zone that encompasses the IP addresses in use on your LAN (including your router)? If you don’t have traffic under Windows across your LAN, you certainly won’t get traffic in a DOS session running Windows.
Thanks guys, it’s working now, after uninstalling and reinstalling it. I suspect it’s because I had to authorize svchost.exe so I could connect to that XP host through RDP from a remote Remote Desktop client, and that DOS-based network apps rely on that EXE to run.
