Would you VOTE for easy Gaming and Network control?

Example:

A GUI for home networks and gamers for simplification of connections, etc… Simply to allow other gamers\users or a pre-determined access prior to gaming at all. This would be more of a user to user type setup, like controlling your company I guess. This way, a person would be all set and ready without worrying about it. On many multi player games, if can allow the ip or port prior to the game , the game can find or you can enter it manually into the game and the game will then work through it. Once you know the game setup, it should be easy to configure and keep some settings and with a few clicks, you can open or close it when done, allow\disallow others. Some gamers shut the firewall right off not knowing how to allow others ip addys and such, this would be more of the type of situation I would mean. With the obvious game issues, if the user cannot connect when the game is running, create a log in a quiet mode that would show a possible problem. Access the log and read what the problem may be so the person can come here and ask for help or elsewhere or may know themselves what the problem is.

BTW, feel free to shatter my dreams here if you’d like, I can take it!

I love the gist of the idea. However, I have a question for you. What if I want to play a game that is linked to others through a server, like the World of Warcraft. I mean whose IP should I allow? is it that of the server’s?

Yours truly,
DoomScythe

WOW server IP is correct, as it acts as a central conduit for all data comms between players. Thats how Blizzard track everything.

ewen

As Ewen answered, yes. So it reallly wouldn’t be any different except you could more easily (somewhat) allow the connection and ?bookmark ? it in a way, and shut it off and on when you choose. You could set these as you like, or add one. You get a new game player, put in the ip, and from there on keep it as a once again, fav\bookmark or a save, and click it to allow or shut off. All through the Gaming GUI. You could allow multiple connections or different ips through this all with the click of a button. ;D

If Comodo could implement your idea, I don’t see why I should not be supporting it. However, this addition to CPF ought to be light, otherwise it would chase non-gamers away from using the CPF.

Yours truly,
DoomScythe

I’m thinking optional plugin-optional completely.

Paul

See Melih? If you went through all the trouble developing this, 4 actual users said they would use it! The numbers are astounding! One day, it may be 5! Who knows? ::slight_smile:

Did you speak to Nick (he’s the forum admin right?)… I think you should advertise the poll (maybe in the News Box at the top of the page). There have only been 77 hits on this page & probably a lot those are… well us. Maybe polls need to pinned to the top. Maybe polls need their very own section in a highly visable position. I just don’t think enough people are seeing/noticing them as it currently stands.

Well Kail,

I do agree with you that most of the hits in this thread are done by a handful of us. The thing about most users is that they are not really attached to Comodo. They don’t see a need to cast a vote as they are in here just for one ultimate aim, to make the Comodo software on their computer work without a glitch. They think spending time in this forum is a waste of time (or something to that account) and at best, they will post a few posts that compliments Comodo, make a suggestion or criticize Comodo. There are also those who browse but are just too lazy to tap their keyboard to post a reply.

Therefore, I don’t think they will give a hoot about the rest that are going on in this forum. Unless there are more people who are infected with OCCD (Obsesive Compulsive Comodo Disorder) , I don’t foresee votes pouring into polls anytime soon.

Yours truly,
DoomScythe

Hi Kail, yeah I understand that. I was more doing this for a personal view to see who would in fact like this idea but as you and DoomSpice both make good points and to put it into words, it is , what it is. If it was a good enough idea , Melih or someone else would pick up on it anyway. Thanks for the input , is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Paul

Modified: I may add, would be nice though,

Guys no need of voting on this one. There will be an option for easy gaming (:LOV)

Great, any idea when it will be out?

Yours truly,
DoomScythe

Just a guess, maybe with the next stable release; the feauture exists in the beta but cannot give any hints because it’s not fully tested yet, and I don’t think that anyone of you would like to have a system wide open to the dangerous outworld, right?
Maybe Melih or Egemen can conferm when will be added at the stable version

Adding predefined game’s port and their executable to the safe/known list would be an awesome investment to Comodo’s feature.

…you can simply type “warcraft port” in google, and get the right configuration in a minute or two.

That’s great to hear! So I actually had a good idea? Wait till I tell my wife, “see, I CAN think on my own”!!!

Cheers,

Paul

P.S. I am not under an egotistical impression that this was all my idea and understand others have mentioned this many times i’m sure… (:KWL)

The above is completely kidding…not serious

Easy gaming feature (beta) is not currently available to the public, I am not sure when this feature will be finished though. I haven’t gotten a chance to try out the easy gaming feature yet.
