please give me some assistance on removing this thing from my computer. thank you all very much.

Hi mate,

I’m no expert but I reckon you have some rogue spyware installed. Try running this Download SmitFraudFix - MajorGeeks free utility.
If it wont help then I found a bit more complicated removal tutorial as “plan B”.
Btw what kind of security software are you running? You may want to install BOClean and Comodo memory firewall as preventative measures in the future. But first we need to remove that stuff.

i have mcafee. its not bad, it just cant find this ■■■■■■. i’ll try running that. any other advice would be appreciated. thanks.

never liked mcaffee… try some stuff like trojan hunter, trojan remover elite, spybot, ad-aware… maybe boot into safe mode and perform scanning.

Fix the these with HJT:

it appears to be gone but in the smitfraud one it still says it found stuff. can you please help me some more. also i thought i had gotten rid of them a couple of days ago, but when i restarted my comp they would be back, as they are now. please help me. thank you all very much.

should i maybe do it in safe mode, sice i was just looking at the hijack this log and files that i “deleted” are still there? i just want to get rid of this thing. its rendering my computer useless right now and is very fustrating. thank you all very much.

try hijackthis log analyzer, see if it tells something and also try any of above mentioned tools - ad-aware, spy-bot etc. try booting into safe mode if nothing of above helps and repeat the steps you took earlier. try googling for netsky worm, maybe there are removal instructions somewhere (but first make sure this IS a netsky).

EDIT

files that i "deleted" are still there?
this often happens with malware - it defends itself.

also, if you know exactly what has infected your machine - you could try googling for special tools aimed to remove that particular worm/trojan/whatever (e. g. things like win32.blaster removal tool).

you can also try some online scans - trend micro housecall, kaspersky’s online scan… note that they don’t remove anything.

and the most important thing - you MUST know what EXACTLY is installed on your computer to be able to determine malware from safe programs. For example, i see some “web search” stuff on your hijackthis log, sometimes these are spyware/adware BHO’s.

Try following these:

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the first link is the general cleaning procedure specified by them. The second link is the possible final solution for you but they refer a few times to the so called “readme” which is the first link. Hope this helps.

thanks all. i think i fixed the problem. :BNC with the help of spybot search and destroy, rouge remover, smitfraud, and hijackthis. its gone as far as i can tell. ran everything in safe mode 3 times each. and now its finding nothing. restarted 5 times, used to come back upon restart, and has not come back. so i just want to thank you all here at comodo for all your help, (S). thank you very much (:CLP). bye (:WAV).

I hope it’s ok to continue this thread, as I’m having the same windows popping up constantly, it started yesterday, mentioning “worm.win32.netsky”, then goes on to add, “windows detected an internet attack attempt”, then offers to download the tools to make my computer safe from now on (from a microsoft website, no less), then starts iexplorer without my permission and downloads three programs that I can see, mentioned earlier in this thread. I ran a scan, but could only run a scan on my C and D drives, and nothing was found. I also use A-Squared AntiMalware and tried to run a scan on all my drives. It started and ended almost as quickly, with no infected files listed. That was curious, because a full scan takes about twelve hours. Still wanting to believe that windows isn’t just swiss cheese, I went to their homepage, was directed to the “Malicious software removal tool”. It’s been running for 14 hours now, it found one infected file at the start, buit there are no provisions for stopping the scan, to fix that problem, just continue til it’s done, then it will list all the infected files, if the computer is still able to run by then. I’ve made plenty un-friends on the internet, because of my opinions concerning microsoft , and their deals with certain security agencies in this country, who aren’t even supposed to have their noses up their own citizens butts. Frankly, I would have expected a ‘hit’ rather than a hack, but being a member of an outlaw motorcycle club has marked me also, as the whole focus on terrorists has been turned on any biker that might cause a problem, when the forces that want to be decide to make a move on democracy, and pervert it even further into fascism. B ut, that’s a story for another day, whatever has got a stranglehold on my computer is making it more and more difficult to even post, every time one of it’s windows opens, it screws me up with a space or a missed letter in my spelling.
The bottom line is, microsofts little tool is looking more like a file scanner for their benefit, rather than a tool to help the consumer, as it should be, and as a result, I need some help also. I looked for my copy of “hijack this”, funny, I can’t find it. I wonder if I’ll be able to download and install it again.
