Windows Vista Business becomes very unstable after installing CB

I downloaded this morning and installed Comodo backup on my computer to see if it would do what I need it to do.
After installing, my computer became very unstable.
Crashed (blue screen, Stop 0x7e) once, locked up several times with hard drive activity light on no flicker. Let it sit for several minutes with no change in state.
Had to press reset button to force restart due to computer became unresponsive.

Had to boot in safe mode, use a system restore to get my computer to work at all.
Use SC Delete to delete the services
Manually deleted the comodo files and directory

Any suggestions on what went wrong?
