Windows Update problem [Resolved]

Hi there,

I am a new Comodo Firewall user. I have a problem. When I wanted to update Windows from Windows Update page it did not work. When I Allow Traffic, everything worked normally. This is the message I got from Microsoft page:

When accessing the Update site, you receive the 0x80072EE2 or 0x80072EFD error. (Resolution 1) Last updated : 10/21/2005 Print | Close

Problem description
This error may occur if your Internet connection or configuration is preventing access to the Update site.

Resolutions

  1. A misconfigured Proxy/Firewall can cause this problem. Double-check the Proxy/Firewall settings.
    Add the following urls to the exception list within your Firewall/Proxy:
    http://.update.microsoft.com
    https://    .update.microsoft.com
    http://download.windowsupdate.com
    For help configuring Proxy/Firewall refer to documentation or contact the manufacturer.

Now, my question is how to do that?

Hi and welcome,

You need a network monitor rule like the following for both url’s:

Action : Allow
Protocol : IP
Direction : In
Source IP : [Host Name] = http://*.update.microsoft.com
Destination IP : Any
IP Details : Any

Make sure these are the first rules in the network monitor list.
