Is it safe to compeletely allow the ‘windows operating system’ process? I keep getting this as blocked in the firewall log and so want to add it as a trusted application (confirmed stops it getting blocked).
Will this compromise my pc’s security in any way?
What is the log saying that the block is?
Thing is if a packet/s is blocked from entering your pc because say you have a Block and Log all rule in place at the bottom of Global Rules CIS does not know what to label this blocked entry so by default it calls it Windows Operating System.
If i ping this computer from another computer on the network or from the router, the block is logged as WOS. The best thing is to find out what the block is (by looking at the logs) then either creating an Allow rule for it or a Block and don`t log.
