Windows 7 Overload Buffer Attack?

Comodo Internet Security just informed me that “Explorer.exe tried toe xecute shellcode as a result of a possible buffer overflow attack.”

Now from my experience, I’m definitely thinking this is a joke. But anyway, I’ll let the people with more knowledge than me decide.

In case of a buffer overflow attack it is a good thing to check for malware.

Let Malwarebytes Antimalware, Super Antispyware and Hitman Pro run and see if that fixes things.

I analysed your HJT log with help of www.hijackthis.de and saw that there may be various Windows system files missing (alg.exe, lsass.exe, locator.exe, spoolsv.exe,…). Not sure what the significance is of this. I would advice to run the command prompt and then have Windows check its integrity with the sfc /scannow command.

Are you using a reduced installation of Windows 7 as can be made by vLite for Windows 7?

I think the missing system files are OK, it’s just that HijackThis doesn’t seem to realise that the system is a x64 installation.

PS Dagobu, can you post a screen shot of what is in CIS’s Defense+ event log in relation to the Buffer Overflow event. Thanks.
