Why doesn't Norton Protection Center Recognize CFP?

Norton AntiVirus 2007 Protection Center does not recognize CFP.

Is there a way to get it recognized?

Thanks.

Steve

What did Symantec say when you asked them?

They are a competitor, and not sure if they would be motivated to recognise a competitor’s firewall.

go ahead and ask them why…

I previously used Outpost Firewall and Norton had no problem recognizing it.

I did not want to keep paying for that firewall and read great reviews of CFP so I switched. I assumed that it would be recognized by Norton. So I was wondering why it wouldn’t recognize it.

Steve

oh ok…
maybe that Norton does not update their database very often? (our firewall has been around for around 2 years… maybe they haven’t updated their db for 2 years?)

Melih

Well Norton is not the only one! I had iolo System mechanic installed and even it didn’t identify CPF!
Heh! They must be thinking that they are gaining a competitive advantage! But that actually makes me laugh! (:LGH)

You see, that upsets me :(. When we build a product we make it totally inclusive, as otherwise we would be cheating the users. For example: we built Verfication engine and instead of just recognising our own certificates, we make sure to recognise every certificate including competitors and we keep it current. If companies are offering a feature to inform the user about firewalls, then they should do a good job and keep their list current and updated regulary. (:NRD)
