Why countless vendors are added to Defense+ "My Trusted Software Vendors"

even with previous versions I was always wondering why software makers like apple, adobe, google, aol, limewire, hp, real networks etc were considered trusted/safe but with this new 4.0.135239.742 version countless more are added to Defense+’ “My Trusted Software Vendors” list by default…

does anyone else noticed this? is there any way to select them (by holding CTRL key) and remove or remove all of them at once?

many thanks.

These vendors are added to the white list and are considered to be safe, so when installing for example Google Chrome CIS won’t produce any popups.

that’s exactly the point… when I setup a PC for kids/seniors/friends I don’t want them to install any software from apple, adobe, google, aol, limewire, hp, real networks and many others…

Wouldn’t that be up to them to install what they want?

You can set D+ to not automatically make rules for digitally signed applications as are listed in My Trusted Vendors List. To not use the Safe List you have to set D+ to Paranoid and Firewall to Custom Policy.

I guess CIS is not the most ideal tool for your purposes.

it WAS.

Then they wouldn’t be relying on me.

To have the desired behaviour you will have to change to Proactive Security or simple remove the All applications group from under Application Rules.

The old school v3.x behaviour is still there, just a few clicks away.

remove the All applications group from under Application Rules.

many thanks.

Edit: is there a way to remove all trusted vendors at once ?

Open up the Vendors List and Press Ctrl + A and then click remove or press del key?

I’m not sure if this would help

@ Jacob

thanks for the reply.

I’ve tried CTRL+A, Click First+Shift+Down Arrow etc but none of 'em working to remove all at once.

Just got to D+, Advanced, Defense + Settings, Uncheck “Trust the Application digitally signed by Trusted Software Vendors”

Make that Just got to D+, Advanced, Defense + Settings[, Uncheck “Trust the Application digitally signed by Trusted Software Vendors”

Thanks for correction, will fix it in my post.

You’re welcome. Glitches like this happen.
