Why Comodo Leak Test is classified as malware?

I got AV alert saying that clt.exe is malware, Application.Win32.LeakTest.~B@124754821
Then I submitted it to Comodo AV Labs as FP. I got answer from them saying that this is not a false positive.

Hi nime,

Leaktests are applications built with special mechanisms which try to bypass security software and report such vulnerabilities.

Such applications are not flagged as malicious, but as “Application”. For more details please check the post regarding naming guidelines: https://forums.comodo.com/av-false-positivenegative-detection-reporting/cis-malware-naming-rules-for-potentially-dangerous-applicationsriskware-t38506.0.html

Regards,
Ionel

Repeating in each instance the same message and the same link (https://forums.comodo.com/av-false-positivenegative-detection-reporting/do-i-win-the-contest-t62122.0.html) does not make this behavior less defectuous.

I do not understand why Comodo would flag its own testing suite as unwanted/malicious. That does not seem logical to me.

For those you do not want to be annoyed with the detection alert, you can add CLT to the AV exclusion list.

There ya go a man with sense, this is crazy, I ran this thing and then Comodo goes off yelling about Malicious software.

Come on Comodo unflag your own program for gosh sakes, boy talk about one crazy FP, LOL…

If it was whitelisted the test wouldn’t work properly.

Then just leave it as an unknown.
