I got notofocation now that there is an update of Comodo but going to see the details the newest version of Comodo is/was 3.13.121240.574 from November ???
The latest was released yesterday 3.13.x.579 and fixes an issue with the AV detection…

I just upgraded but…
- Since I am using only Comodo Firewall without the AntiVirus was there sence or was it nessessery to update?
- I have now in my Comodo install folder a lot of .cav files, I think this a files for the AV component… As I said I dont use AV of Comodo, only the firewall. So is this OK, that such .cav files are available in the Comodo install folder?

Is an issue with the current updater that can make a difference between install types and therefore “forces” a full upgrade… hope they’ll fix this later in version 4.x

It’s not a problem that those files are there, i assume your GUI still shows Firewall and Defense+ and no AV?
- Oh well, this is not good, because I did upgraded and that was not nessessery :-/ I suppose the .cav files were installed with the upgrade I have just installed, right?
- It is a problem for me because the .cav are over 100MB and they take much space on my harddrive. If I don’t need then, can I delete them?

which files exctely Ican delete without causing problems with Comodo firewall. Please see screenshots below.

Does this mean that upgrades which contains changes both in Comodo firewall and AV will cause that everytime when I upgrade only my firewall there will also be AV files (.cav) installed?
You can empty \scanners completely and you can *.cav from the \repair folder
But i would only remove both bases.cav files the others are harmlessly small.
And yes for the moment the build in updater will also update the AV whether or not you have installed the AV
So it would be better to export your configuration and “uninstall/reinstall/import” with the next update.
It will save you the “AV” issue…

If you wish to update you could do the following.
- download the latest version from the site.
- disconnect from the network
- export your current configuration via Misc, Manage my configurations and safe the file somewhere
- uninstall current version, reboot
- install new version, reboot
- import previous configuration using Misc, Manage my configurations
That would take away the “AV” issues during an “upgrade” but removing only bases.cav is faster…
ok, then I will always remove the both bases.cav in \scanners and in \repair after upgrade.
Do you know how should the upgrade process work when this bug is fixed? What is the proper way?
It should detect “what” version is installed, this comes basically down to AV installed Yes/No and then update accordingly… If AV is not installed it makes no sense to download the scan components…
