no security toolbars like siteadvisor seemed to work in opera to me. what is good in opera compared to ie7 and firefox?
Gosh everyone ignored my question >.<
i simply didnt understand your question, i am sure no one here wants to ignore you
Sorry Jeims, could you give a bit more information. How did you block the sites exactly?
Before knowing this hostfile you guys posted here I used to do this : HOWTO: Block websites using the HOSTS file – All Things Marked
And put there websites like Megaupload, Rapidshare so he can’t download stuff at work. I verified and it worked the sites won’t open. After a while I checked again and the hostfile was brand new again.
I suggest you use a utility called Hostsxpert, one of it’s functions is you can make the HOSTS file read only to prevent any modification once edited. It’s portable too so can be run from a usb key .
Opera has Haute Secure integrated which negates the need for other toolbars. The strength of Opera is that the useful stuff comes by default, there are also a few good addons (widgets) available to download.
It just won’t prevent any suspicious changes made to system, if they ever occur. Haute Secure, the application for IE and Firefox does, though. Maybe something the folks behind Haute Secure could work out.
