browsing the forums i see users giving advice to restart the firewall and even to reboot the machine in order for modified settings to take effect.
do i need to do that?
are there certain options that need restart? (excluding old firewalls installation or reinstallation)
it looks like network rules take effect immediately.
For the most part, you shouldn’t need to restart/reboot for the firewall to accept new changes. However, there have been occasions when, having inadvertently blocked an application, perhaps via a prompt, followed by an unblock in Application Monitor, the firewall does not recognise the change and thus keeps the application blocked. At this point we have to consider either restarting the firewall or even resorting to a reboot for the change to take.
