What processes should I see in the task manager (Vista) when using CIS? [SOLVED]

As all I see is cfp.exe and if I show processes for all users I then see nothing different (well I do see other things ie cmf.exe and ComodoSE.exe and cssurf.exe but that has nothing to do with CIS) but other then that CIS is still fine updating fine all the rest of it, but is there something I am missing here?

you should see cfp.exe (CIS GUI) and then cmdagent.exe. cmdagent.exe is the “core” of CIS which monitors everything (including AV, Defense+, Firewall).

Additionally, cssusrf.exe would be running if safesurf was installed.

i see you have cmf.exe (comodo memory firewall) and cssurf.exe (comodoe safesurf bundled with CIS). both are for buffer overflow protection. you don’t need both.

I don’t see cmdagent in the processes tab but I do if I click services then click the tab at the bottom called services which opens up local services which has comodo internet security helper service. So what that means I have no idea.

Do you have CIS Running currently?

and does it say all systems are active and running?

If not, do you have CIS as not auto start?

CG

Yes, yes and I don’t know it should be, I guess as default it should be and I have not changed anything so.

Bump

Try to click show processes from all users button in processes list. This should show cmdagent.exe

Hey Patrice as Fazio pointed out earlier that you have CMF and SafeSurf, You should only need one of those - And if CMF works for you then use it over Safesurf, Safesurf is mroe intended to work with browsers but CMF covers the whole system. The reason they have 2 of them is because CMF has caused some problems in some envioroments… CMF is meant to be a difficult program to code, From what I know. I’m pretty sure the people at comodo are working on the issues but still aren’t ironed out. If it works for you now - then use it  I am.

Thanks I will uninstall Safesurf but my main problem is…As all I see is cfp.exe and if I show processes for all users I then see nothing different (well I do see other things ie cmf.exe and ComodoSE.exe and cssurf.exe but that has nothing to do with CIS) but other then that CIS is still fine updating fine all the rest of it, but is there something I am missing here?

It does not as I have posted above.

I don’t see cmdagent in the processes tab but I do if I click services then click the tab at the bottom called services which opens up local services which has comodo internet security helper service. So what that means I have no idea.

Try to run in command line sc start cmdagent
if it returns: An instance of service is already running - cmdagent is launched.

Also you will have red status in CIS general page if there something wrong with cmdagent.

I suppose that’s not cmdagent’s problem, but may be some user rights to see system processes.

I have tried it on a user and a admin account and I get this
[sc] start service: OpenService FAILED 5:

Access is denied.

If your UAC is enabled try to launch cmd.exe as Administrator and then try to execute the line I wrote above

I followed post 11 and got the same result as post 12 but when I ticked show processes from all users box cmdagent is now in the process tab. So you can mark this as fixed.
