Comodo Firewall warns: “C:\Program Files.…\WINWORD.EXE has tried to use Firefox (or IE) through OLE Automation, which can be used to hijack other applications. WINWORD.EXE might be using firefox.exe to connect to the Internet.” Then the choices “Allow” or “Deny”. {Here WINWORD.EXE could be EXCEL.EXE or Mouse.exe or any application}

If denied, the browser becomes disabled, and has to be closed and reopened to work again. Some times even logoff the net and logon again!

Questions:

  1. What personal information is the application taking to its Guru, Microsoft in this case?]
  2. How can I disable the applications (WINWORD.EXE, EXCEL.EXE, …mouse.exe, etc., etc.) from ever asking to communicate, without disabling the browsers too?
  3. At least, how can I re-enable the browser without closing and reopening it?
