What is the exefile bsm_chrome.exe for?

While manually fixing a problem with the new CIS overloading my hd on logon, that have existed for months or years, I found this exefile and I didn’t like it. bsm_chrome.exe is not mentioned here https://forums.comodo.com/news-announcements-feedback-cis/what-are-all-different-processes-in-cis-v6v7-t94906.0.html

I didn’t like it because comodo software have been known to install, without the user’s permission, some custom chrome version. Nasty.
I renamed it just in case comodo feels the need to do something without my permission.

Was I right? Is it an install file for a custom chrome version?

With the default installer settings CIS will also install Chromodo browser. If you did not untick the option to install Chromodo it will have installed. You can uninstall if from Programs and Features.

If there was any such option I would untick it if I didn’t miss it due to installers making it ambiguous or obfuscating it like
“Do you want to install this super special program”
You have the option to untick it but then the buttons:
“Agree and Install / Cancel”, “Agree and Continue / Cancel”.
Those installers with ads in them is a good example. They obfuscate the options too. Some even lie. “You can not run this program without this malware installed”.

That comodo browser turned up suddenly about a week after I had installed CIS.
I check each time I install something that the installer have done what I told it to and nothing more.
Perhaps it got installed while CIS did an update?

Some sites would mark CIS installer as malicious due to having that checked by default. That is getting more popular. Shaming companies into doing the right thing. I’m sure AV programs will start soon too. They have already started with malicious installers using special ad components.

It is called Customise installation in the installer.

From what version of CIS did you update?
